Essential Functions

The Head Coach of Volleyball/Sports Coordinator reports directly to the Vice President of Athletics, this is an exciting opportunity to join the Athletic Department at The University of Texas Permian Basin, a part of the prestigious 14 institution University of Texas System. The head volleyball coach is responsible for all aspects of a highly competitive NCAA Division II program. They will provide leadership for the student-athletes and staff while ensuring the program complies with the overall objectives of the Institution and the Department. Ensure the program adheres to all applicable NCAA rules, Lone Star Conference and those set forth by The University of Texas System and State of Texas.

The head volleyball coach is responsible for all aspects of a highly competitive NCAA Division II program. They will provide leadership for the student-athletes and staff while ensuring the program complies with the overall objectives of the Institution and the Department. Ensure the program adheres to all applicable NCAA rules, Lone Star Conference and those set forth by The University of Texas System and State of Texas.

1. Responsible for all strategic aspects, planning and administering of a successful athletic program. 
   
2. Instruct, teach and coach student-athletes during practice and competition. 
   
3. Conducts video analysis and instruction as a teaching and preparation tool. Plans practice and game-day strategy. 
   
4. Monitoring of student-athletes academic and athletic development.
   
5. Recruit student-athletes in accordance with NCAA rules and regulations through scouting, attending competitions, and home visits.
   
6. Represents sports program to various institutional programs and externally to media, government agencies, funding agencies, students, parents, and the general public. 
   
7. Manages all daily operations and coordinates all administration facets of the assigned program. 
   
8. Oversees all aspects of the financial operation of the specific sports program to include engaging in fund-raising activities for the program in conjunction with athletic advancement. 
   
9. Adhere to all NCAA, Conference and Institution policies and procedures.

Required Qualifications

1. Bachelor’s degree is required.
   
2. One (1) to three (3) years of head coaching experience or 3 years of assistant coaching experience in a collegiate environment.
   
3. Possess a valid unencumbered driver’s license and the ability to travel both locally and nationally.

Preferred Qualifications

Master's degree.

Schedule

Generally, the normal work hours for the university are Monday through Thursday, 7:30 – 5:30 pm; Friday, 8:00 am – 12:00 pm with a one-hour lunch. The individual holding this position may need to be available early morning, evening, and on weekends to meet the needs of the department. Hours worked may differ with some departments.

Standard Working Conditions

1. Able to lift various materials up to 25 pounds on an occasional basis.
   
2. Able to bend, crouch, and reach continuously.
   
3. Physically able remain seated, frequently to continuously.
   
4. Able to remain standing up to 15% of the time.
   
5. Possesses dexterity abilities required to perform job duties including extensive keyboard work, operating office equipment, performing filing, and other job-related responsibilities that include extensive wrist and hand movement.
   
6. Standard working conditions may differ depending on department and occupation
