Job Summary
The Head Coach for Softball will recruit, coach, and mentor responsible and academically driven student-athletes for the softball program. The head coach coordinates program activities, internal and external appearances, and competitions. The head coach is also responsible for promoting UT Tyler athletics, coordinating special events, and engaging the campus and community. This position is subject to an NCAA enforcement staff compliance review, and employment is contingent upon satisfactory results.
Standard office environment with required travel, evening hours, and some weekend hours. Will work in all types of weather conditions, from the cold to extreme heat, as well as in a fluid environment.
Major Responsibilities/Duties/Critical Tasks
Required Education/Experience
Bachelor’s degree.
Seven (7) or more years of experience of successful collegiate coaching.
May accept a combination of education and experience.
Preferred Education/Experience
Master’s degree.
Five (5) years’ experience head coaching an NCAA DII or NCAA DI team.
Required Certifications/Licenses:** **
Must maintain certification in first aid/CPR/AED throughout the entire appointment.
Texas Driver's License within thirty (30) days of employment

The retirement plan for this position is Teacher Retirement System of Texas (TRS), subject to the position being at least 20 hours per week and at least 135 days in length. This position has the option to elect the Optional Retirement Program (ORP) instead of TRS, subject to the position being 40 hours per week and at least 135 days in length.
This position is security-sensitive and subject to Texas Education Code Section 51.215, which authorizes the employer to obtain criminal history record information. Applicants selected must be able to show proof of eligibility to work in the United States by time of hire.
