Responsible for the development of players, team selection for game participation, and travel.

Responsible for recommending to the Director of Athletics a schedule that meets the institutional philosophy and that will be approved by the Faculty Athletics Representative or her/his designee.
Responsible for ensuring that academic scheduling is done through on-campus advisors and Athletics Compliance Director to meet the academic needs of the student–athletes and that the student-athlete scheduling meets eligibility and progress toward degree requirements.
Responsible for requesting housing for players through the Director of Athletics and Housing Director to ensure quality living conditions for the student-athletes.
Responsible for travel arrangements and lodging for the teams, in conjunction with the Director of Athletics.
Responsible for directing the assistant coach(es) in the areas of the women’s basketball program; including recommending to the Director of Athletics the hiring, firing, and performance evaluations of assistant coaches, and scheduling the travel of the assistant coach(es), in consultation with the supervisor of activity classes where there may be such responsibilities.
Responsible for presenting a budget and working within the framework of that budget as approved by the Director of Athletics. Major areas of budgetary control include equipment purchases, travel, recruiting, consultation, guarantees, team costs during break periods, and rentals. Other areas include, but are not limited to, awards, subscriptions, advertisements, and miscellaneous items.
Responsible for the promotion of the basketball program and the athletic department.
The Head Coach is expected to follow and comply with all rules and regulations of the department and the institution.
The Women’s Basketball Coach will be given first choice in administering basketball camps and clinics for girls. Acceptance of such includes the organization and implementation of such events.
Promote a program environment of inclusion.
Along with Sports Performance Staff, develop and manage agility, mobility, strength and conditioning programs.
Any activity in areas outside of the above named will require consultation and approval by the Director of Athletics. Examples include fund raising, hiring or staff capital campaign projects.
May drive LSSU vehicles to assure the team arrives safely to scheduled activities.
Perform other related duties as assigned by the
Director of Athletics to promote, advance and ensure the effective and efficient operation of LSSU.
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree
Valid Driver’s License
Two or more years of experience as a head coach or two or more years experience as an assistant coach at the collegiate level
Thorough knowledge of institutional, NCAA and Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference rules, policies and regulations.
Preferred Qualifications:
Master’s degree
Physical Demands:
Adequate health and fitness to maintain long hours, full schedule, and travel with teams, as required. Use of gross motor skills for instruction of basketball team; ability to represent the University in public appearances, promotional and recruiting activities.
