The purpose of the Head Coach - Women's Soccer position at the University of North Dakota is to develop, promote, and supervise all facets of the University’s Division I Women's Soccer program while abiding by the rules and regulations of the NCAA, University of North Dakota, and the conference. This position provides comprehensive assistance to the Athletics Department in the area of providing comprehensive instruction to the team. This position will provide instruction to the team that includes teaching proper skills and techniques, teaching basic physical health concepts to include nutritional education, teaching team and individual leadership concepts/skills as well as providing general safety instruction. Must provide support and encouragement and ensure the safety and well-being of the student-athletes. Must have a commitment to compliance with all NCAA rules and regulations.
Duties & Responsibilities
Instruction of the women's soccer team
Design instructional/training in-season/off-season specific to assigned team, player groups, and individuals.
Teach basic physical health concepts (to include nutritional education) specific to assigned team, player groups and individuals.
Provide instruction related to team and leadership concepts/skills specific to assigned team, player groups and individuals.
Provide general safety instruction for all activities in which the team and/or individuals participate. Specifically instruct student-athletes on safe training and exercise techniques and ensure assistant coaches are doing the same.
Provide support and encouragement to promote the mental well-being of the student-athletes and ensure assistant coaches are doing the same.
Serve as a role model and demonstrate a professional working relationship with student-athletes and ensure assistant coaches are doing the same.
Develop a competitive program within the conference with the goal of post-season play (RPI, win-loss, conference & non-conference are all factors).
Achieve academic success and acceptable graduation rates for team (team GPA, APR, FGR are all factors) by providing academic support to the student-athletes, directing the student-athletes to the proper resource offices, and enforcing all academic policies.
Provide social media supervision of student-athletes.
Provide overall supervision for team practices and games, practice/game management, & game preparations/strategies.
Follow all NCAA, conference and UND rules and regulations.
Recruit and evaluate prospective student-athletes
Recruit quality prospective student-athletes (includes character, academic & athletics variables) for the sport program.
Organize recruiting visits (both in-home and on campus - official & unofficial visits).
Conduct recruiting process with integrity, ethics, and knowledge.
Handle documentation for each prospective student-athlete in accordance with the NCAA and UND Athletics Department compliance protocols/rules.
Submit paperwork related to recruiting in a timely manner as directed.
Thorough knowledge of and commitment to compliance and follow all NCAA, conference and UND rules and regulations.
Adherence to all NCAA, conference and UND rules and regulations.
Program Administration
Maintain effective professional working relationship with all student-athletes, staff, all coaches/programs, administration, alumni, general public, NCAA and conference officials.
Hire quality assistant coaches, as applicable, and provide supervision of staff (i.e., assistant coaches, director of operations, direct reports & students).
Maintain an effective work ethic concentrating on efficiency in tasks assigned and timely completion of requested materials/forms.
Ensure student-athlete and head coach attendance at all required meetings including, but not limited to, compliance, life skills, & administrative meetings.
Provide disciplinary supervision of student athletes and promote/support of all related policies.
Perform budget development and demonstrate fiscal management, adhere to all budget parameters & mandates, and support all related policies.
Administer and supervise team travel.
Effective management of admissions, compliance, housing, and eligibility issues.
Adhere to all academic, admission, eligibility and housing policies and support all related policies.
Ensure staff adheres to all budget, academic, admission, eligibility, compliance and housing policies and support all related policies.
Thorough knowledge of and commitment to compliance and follow all NCAA, conference, and UND rules and regulations.

Media relations, community service, public relations, fundraising, marketing, etc.
Ensure team participation in community service activities.
Be responsive to local, regional, and national media.

Develop community support for the program via social media and marketing and promotional actions.
Participate in Athletics department and fundraising activities.
Support marketing efforts - address marketing and branding issues, as requested, assist with the marketing of the sport program (use of social media), as appropriate.
Provide social media supervision of student-athletes and support all related policies.
Supervise, manage, and implement all aspects of camps/clinics/special events, as applicable.
Adhere to all camp and compliance parameters/mandates and support all related policies and ensure assistant coaches are doing the same as applicable.

Minimum Requirements
Bachelor’s degree.
Five seasons of full-time collegiate soccer coaching experience.
Experience recruiting prospective student-athletes for collegiate soccer teams.
Experience with NCAA rules and regulations.
Valid Driver’s License.
Successful completion of criminal history background check.

Preferred Qualifications
Masters or advanced degree.
Soccer recruiting experience in the Central Time Zone.
Experience with recruiting and compliance software (i.e. TeamWorks).
Five or more years of experience at the NCAA Division I level.
Current head coach at a NCAA institution.
Demonstrated success as a head or assistant soccer coach with conference championships or a winning percentage of 60% or above.
History of no major or Level 2 NCAA violations.
