3. Plans and coordinates utilization and scheduling of campus fields with community partners
Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Directs the Women's Soccer program
Leads the SSU Soccer Program through planning, direction, and structure to meet the goals of the institution and the team. Ensures the team operates within the guidelines of the University, River States Conference, and the NAIA rules.
Provides on-field coaching and game preparation, film evaluation & scouting for both team and individual skill improvement.
Develops schedules for practice and competition and ensures the availability and maintenance of equipment and facilities. Oversees travel plans, coordinates video, opponent scouting, etc.
Responsible for selecting and supervising volunteer and paid assistant coaches, overseeing budgets (operating and scholarship), and executing fundraising plans.
Recruits, evaluates, and monitors student-athletes who represent Shawnee State well in academics, discipline, and sportsmanship. Motivates athletes to be good examples to the university community.
Works with the Title IX Coordinator and Women's, Gender & Equity Center regarding Title IX regulations, training for student-athletes
Serves as a Title IX Deputy.
Assists Athletics Manager with EADA Report.
Assists with educational programming for student-athletes, coaches, and staff.
Works closely with the Women’s and Gender Equity Center to create and develop relevant materials for Athletics and Campus.
Assists Athletics Manager with developing budgets and Athletic Strategic Plans to ensure Title IX Compliance.
3. Plans and coordinates utilization and scheduling of campus fields with community partners
Serves as the point of contact between SSU and local schools/organizations for soccer field usage.
Helps develop plans and projects for the improvement of the soccer field and facility.
Facilitating competing requests from multiple interest groups.
Work with high school ADs on obtaining times and changes that go along schedule of usage.
Solicit teams that would like to play and collect roster information. Schedule all practice time.
Minimum Job Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Previous coaching experience at the collegiate level.
Knowledge of coaching strategies, recruiting, eligibility rules, River States Conference and NAIA eligibility.
Knowledge of workings of higher education in regards to student retention and progress towards graduation.
Good communication skills to speak with recruits, parents, and students.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree in Sports Administration/Coaching or related field
Two (2) to three (3) years related experience
University Motor Vehicle Review (MVR) - Approval
Preferred Qualifications:
1. Master’s degree or higher in an administrative field (Sports Management or Administration).
2. Collegiate Head coaching experience.
3. Experience supporting international student-athletes.
4. Successful recruiting and student retention experience.
Working Conditions
Active, must be able to conduct practice, outdoors (bad weather) every day, work weekends and evenings.
