The Head Coach is responsible for the management and administration of all phases of a nationally competitive athletic program in accordance with Barry University, the Sunshine State Conference, and NCAA DII regulations. S(h)e will provide an environment that supports the mission of the University and the mental, physical, academic and athletic success of his/her student-athletes. The Head Coach will fulfill other duties as assigned by their direct supervisor.
This is a 12 moth position July 1st thru June 30th.
Organizes, supervises, coordinates, and instruct/teach practice sessions in conjunction with intercollegiate contests. Recruits and works with quality student-athletes with the purpose that all students graduate from Barry University. Develops game preparation and strategies, conditions and trains student-athletes to develop skill, character and team work.
Establishes and maintains an organized recruiting system and is responsible for directing the program within the scope of the intercollegiate athletics program. The Head Coach recruits academically qualified student-athletes who form a competitive squad and meet established academic goals and objectives of the department of intercollegiate athletics and provides service to the community and participation in university wide events. The Head Coach:
Follows established procedures in the event of a student-athlete’s injury
Teaches assigned fundamentals and skills during practice and game.
Assesses student-athlete skills, monitors student-athletes during competition and practice
Models professional behavior and maintains appropriate conduct towards student-athletes. administrators, officials and spectators.
Interacts with the Associate AD/SWA, Barry’s Compliance Coordinator, Faculty Athletic Representative and the Coordinator for Student-Athlete Success on all matters pertaining to eligibility and academic success of each student-athlete. The Head coach updates and maintains relevant and pertinent information on Compliance Assistant, Salesforce, Workday and the ACS/Front Rush Athletic program.
Performs other administrative functions such as but not limited to: Interacts with media Coordinates travel, lodging and meals for team. Manages the fiscal affairs of his budget, including reconciling and requesting expenses appropriately and timely Develops a fund raising effort for the sport. Provides appropriate and timely information to Compliance, Athletic Communications, Athletic Training Room and Sport Performance. Responsible for student data; including admissions, financial aid, registration and academic performance data. All such data are treated as confidential in accordance with federal, state and university regulations. Works closely with Sport Performance, Marketing, Development and Athletic Communications Participates in community service activities. Â

Bachelor's in any discipline is required. A Master's degree is preferred.
1-3 years of relevant experience.
General knowledge of MS Word and Outlook.
Adept at written and oral communications.
Must have a valid driver's license.
