The head coach is responsible for all aspects of the assigned sports program, including but not limited to: recruiting, eligibility, game and practice plans and execution, budget preparation and monitoring, scheduling and travel, supervision of assistant coaches, public relations and promotion of the sport and department, fundraising, alumni engagement, supervision of student-athletes and staff during practices, contests, and trips to ensure they represent Keuka College in a positive manner. It is also the head coach's responsibility to ensure that all Keuka College, conference, and NCAA rules and regulations are followed.
Essential Responsibilities:
Develop a competitive program consistent with the athletic department vision.
Develop an overall recruitment strategy.
Meet or exceed annual recruitment goals established in collaboration with the Director of Athletics; maintain or exceed optimal roster size annually.
Monitor and support academic success and personal growth of each student-athlete towards retention and graduation.
Schedule and conduct regular practice sessions within both traditional and non-traditional seasons as permitted by NCAA and departmental rules and regulations.
Effectively teach individual skills, team concepts, and competitive values; plan and execute practice, conditioning, strength sessions, and game plans.
Schedule use of facilities for practice and competitions. Responsible for arranging a competitive, balanced schedule.
Collaborate with office partners on campus including strength and conditioning, sports medicine, health and counseling, and other support services to ensure that student-athletes are well prepared for competition and their overall development and growth.
Ensure safety through careful monitoring of the condition of equipment and facilities utilized by the team.
Responsible for submitting requests for repair, maintenance, and facility improvements as needed and in collaboration with department staff.
Prepare and submit the sports’ annual budget and monitor all expenditures to ensure fiscal responsibility and a thoughtful use of resources.
Initiate and coordinate the selection, purchase, fitting, and maintenance of team apparel and equipment – including uniforms, equipment, and supplies.
Coordinate the hiring, training, and mentoring of assistant coaches and/or graduate assistants with the Director.
Facilitate team travel arrangements.
Demonstrate leadership, sportsmanship, and mature conduct as the head coach of the program.
Support annual fundraising and alumni outreach in collaboration with the Director of Athletics and Office of Development.
Ensure personal, team, and assistant coaches all adhere to all NCAA, conference, and college processes and rules.
Attend provided/necessary training and meetings to support effectiveness within the position as required.
Participate regularly in available professional development opportunities.
Regular and reliable attendance is expected and required.
Perform other functions as assigned by management including a secondary role.
Requirements
Minimum Qualifications :
Bachelors required, Masters, preferred.
At least two years of coaching or playing experience in an intercollegiate athletics setting is strongly preferred.
Must have time management flexibility and be able to sustain long work hours, including evenings, early mornings, and weekends.
Ability to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing.
First Aid, CPR, AED training certification required.
Physical Requirements:
Early morning, evening, and weekend hours required.
Must be able to work on your feet for an extended period of time.
