Head Coach for Cross Country and Events & Engagement Coordinator (Full-Time) 

POSITION SUMMARY & SCOPE: 

The Head Coach for Men and Women's Cross Country/Events and Engagement Coordinator holds a dual role at Post University. They will coach and manage the men and women's cross-country teams at Post University and coordinate and work with the Director of Events on all University and athletic-related events. They will recruit, retain, plan, and direct student-athlete training and assess individuals' abilities and skill levels to determine appropriate positions within a team. Assists players in reaching the highest athletic potential possible through athletic training and leadership skills. Must be familiar with NCAA rules and regulations. Familiar with standard concepts, practices, and procedures within the sport of cross country. Relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals. The individual will perform various tasks and work under the general supervision of the Director of Athletics and Associate/Assistant Athletic Directors. A certain degree of creativity and latitude is required.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS 

Recruit, retain, and mentor student-athletes at a high level.

• Monitor and assist with the strength and conditioning program.
• Coaching of the team, including practices planning and implementation, individual and team coaching, and other coaching duties as assigned.
• Assist the head coach with the academic support of current student-athletes, including study hall monitoring, individual academic tracking and meetings, class checking, and other duties as assigned.
• Provide input in the evaluation and improvement of our student-athletes.
• Pass the NCAA recruiting certification test.
• Plan all aspects of team travel within budgetary limitations.
• Coordinate as well as work with the Director of Events on all University and athletic-related events, including but not limited to golf outings, alum engagements, banquets, guest speakers, special functions, and promotional and marketing activities.
• Coordinate on and off-campus recruiting activities, including prospect evaluation, database management, correspondence, phone calls, and other duties.
• Plan for fundraising and other special functions within the overall athletic department fundraising and development program framework.
• Successful candidates must be committed to the academic success of student-athletes and be committed to their personal growth and social development. 
• Additional duties as assigned within the Athletics Department and at the discretion of the Director of Athletics and the Associate/Assistant Director of Athletics.

• Bachelor's degree or extensive relevant experience.
• Collegiate coaching and playing experience.
• Familiarity with various hardware/software used within a University/Athletics setting.
• Proven leadership ability.
• Must possess the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with staff, student-athletes, and potential recruits and their families.
• Excellent communication, written and oral skills.
• Demonstrated commitment to NCAA Division II guidelines and regulations.
