ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS, PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES AND OBJECTIVES:
The Head Competitive Cheer Coach is responsible for complete supervision of the competitive cheer program at Lackawanna College. In addition, as Head Competitive Cheer Coach, they will have the responsibility for recruiting student athletes and for determining which individuals will be selected for positions on the team.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
All staff are expected to continually seek out ways and methods to improve the effectiveness of their instruction.
Staff shall engage in professional development, in-service training opportunities, and scholarly activities to stay current in their discipline and teaching best practices.
Staff are expected to voice concerns constructively and actively participate in finding solutions.
Staff shall work effectively with colleagues outside of their respective department in achieving College or organization goals and objectives.
Staff should be knowledgeable of and comply with the contents of the current College Catalog, Lackawanna College Policies and Procedures Manual, and other appropriate college publications.
To ensure that the recruitment of prospective athletes is carried out efficiently, in accordance with College policy and purpose, and in accordance with applicable regulations.
To be familiar with Lackawanna College and NJCAA scholarship guidelines and follow these guidelines.
To develop, recommend, and manage the budget for the cheer program.
To follow established policies and procedures for assisting student financial aid officials in managing scholarships and other financial aid for student athletes.
Coach conducts practices and clinics, and determines the number, duration and content of those practices and clinics that is in the best interests of College.
Coach will teach, tutor and instruct team members on the rules and fundamentals of the sport.
Offers instruction and coaching to advance the performance of each athlete.
Coach supervises and coaches the team on all travel of the home and away events.
Develops, supervises and conducts the recruiting program for College’s competitive cheer program.
Responsible for supervising team members at all times during practices, games, and other times as directed.
In conjunction with the athletic department, the Coach will develop a fund-raising program.
Ensures compliance with NJCAA; policies and procedures of Lackawanna College and their Athletic program.
Promotes the well-being of student-athletes.
All other duties assigned by the Athletic Director.
KEY COMPETENCIES:
Must be able to maintain confidentiality at all times.
Must have a willingness to utilize technology and computerized instructional methods.
Must have strong human relations skills and must be student-oriented.
Successful experience in the application of student learning and assessment practices, processes, and technologies that enhance teaching is preferred.
Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
