Head Cross Country and Track and Field Coach

Southern Arkansas University, a NCAA Division II member institution and member of the Great American Conference (GAC), is seeking applicants for the position of Men’s and Women’s Head Cross Country and Track and Field Coach.

Duties: Provide strategic direction, leadership and motivation for the entire cross country and track program; coach and develop athletes to achieve success in and out of the classroom; follow NCAA, Great American Conference and University rules and regulations; provide effective management of meets and practices; recruit highly qualified student-athletes; lead and promote a collaborative work environment amongst the coaching staff; assist in fundraising; manage all program related budgets; attend staff meeting; communicate with alumni; organize and manage camps and clinics; establish a strong working relationship with the University and surrounding community; oversee daily maintenance of practice and competition facilities and other duties assigned. Additional assignments depending on qualifications could be assigned by the Director of Athletics.

Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree required; master’s preferred; 3-5 years of coaching experience equivalent to Division II; head coaching experience preferred; demonstrate ability and success in teaching the skills and fundamentals of cross country and track; excellent written and oral communication skills; proven leadership and management ability; aptitude to organize and motivate student-athletes to maximum performance level in sport; possess academic achievements; proven experience in recruiting highly motivated and qualified student-athletes; budget experience; USTFCCCA certifications preferred.
