Position Summary Information

| Responsibilities |
Responsible for the management and administration of all aspects of the football program in a manner that upholds the mission and objectives of the Delta State University Department of Athletics.

Develops and coordinates an atmosphere of compliance within the program, including adherence to all rules and regulations set forth by the University, Gulf South Conference and NCAA guidelines.

Provides leadership and instruction in academic, athletic and personal development of student-athletes, which includes advising team members in academic, conditioning, disciplinary, personal, and professional matters.

Supervises assistant coaches, graduate assistants, interns and support staff.

Directs the recruitment efforts of the program. Ensures compliance with all University, GSC and NCAA regulations regarding the contacting and recruitment of student-athletes.

Monitors the academic progress and eligibility of the program’s student-athletes. Works closely with the Department’s Compliance staff and the University’s Academic Success Center. Assists in enforcing support services for the program’s student-athletes, which includes: study hall, academic advising, tutoring, etc.

Works with the Director of Athletics or their designee to monitor budgets, submit budget requests and manages the program within the guidelines of a balanced budget.

Works with the Director of Athletics or their designee to create a competitive schedule.

Coordinates all team travel within the guidelines of the University, GSC and the NCAA.

Works collaboratively in the selection and purchase of the program’s equipment, uniforms and supplies. This includes yearly maintenance.

Supports both the Athletic Training and Strength and Conditioning departments to ensure student-athlete welfare on the field and off.

Participates in public relations activities, including fundraising appearances, speaking engagements, radio and television appearances, interviews, press conferences, and charitable events. Represents the University and the Department of Athletics at professional, civic and alumni events as appropriate.

Works with all coaches in the Department of Athletics to promote and enhance the overall operation of the organization.

Performs other duties as requested by the University and Department of Athletics administration.
