Job Description:
Reporting to the Director of Athletics, the Head Football Coach is responsible for directing and managing the football program. The position is responsible for developing and managing a competitive NCAA Division III Football program within the Centennial Conference on the field, in the classroom, and in the community. The hiring range for this full-time position is $88,000 - $92,000.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Plan, organize and conduct all practices and competition sessions.
Organize game preparation, including film breakdown; develop game plans and scouting reports related to the offensive unit for each contest.
Supervise the issuance, care and inventory of sports equipment in coordination with the equipment manager.
Coordinate sports information reporting, promotion and publicity in coordination with the sports information office.
Prepare a schedule of competition that complies with all conference rules and submits schedule to Director of Athletics for approval.
Collaborate with Admissions to meet annual recruitment and retention goals by identifying, recruiting, matriculating and retaining qualified and success student-athletes.
Advise and direct team members, captains, Student Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) team representatives and team managers.
Administer the annual football budget consistent with Finance policies and procedures.
Demonstrate leadership, sportsmanship and conduct becoming of the coaching profession adhering to all college and professional sport association guidelines.
Support the academic progression of student athletes to ensure continued eligibility.
Enforce and abide by all NCAA, ECAC, Centennial Conference and institutional policies.
Provide information needed for NCAA compliance including but not limited to player eligibility and rules compliance.
Manage team travel including transportation, lodging and meals and travel itinerary.
Coordinate with athletic training staff regarding student athlete medical clearances, injury prevention, rehabilitation and status of injured athletes.
Engage in development activities to raise funds for Green and Gold
Demonstrate leadership, sportsmanship, and conduct becoming of the coaching profession adhering to all college and professional sport association guidelines.
Accomplish other duties as assigned, including one department-wide administrative duty.
Requirements:
Qualifications
Previous college and/or professional level coaching required
Bachelor's Degree required, Master's preferred
Successful collegiate recruiting experience
Excellent written and oral communication skills
Strong, detail-oriented, organizational skills
Computer literacy and adaptability in all Microsoft, Hudl, Recruiting and NCAA software
A strong knowledge and experience working with athletes, teams and programs required
A self-motivated leader/worker
Ability and interest in sports and a willingness to work with college students.
Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with employees, coaching staff, student athletes, vendors, alumni, and general public
Ability to manage and supervise staff including training, scheduling, and evaluating
Ability to work effectively and efficiently in a flexible work week schedule including evenings and weekends along with overtime in busy periods during the academic year
Knowledge of basic budgeting and record keeping procedures
Ability to read and comprehend documents such as instructions, manuals, rulebooks, safety rules, policy standards, timecards and memos
Ability to write routine reports and correspondence for varied campus groups
Ability to speak effectively, present information one-to-one and in small group situations
Valid driver's license with two or less points
Working Conditions
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is routinely working in an athletic complex with minimal exposure to adverse conditions. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
Abilities/Physical Characteristics
This position requires the ability to lift, pull, push, and move objects in weight up to 50lbs regularly. A large majority of the time is spent performing manual labor. Specifically, this position requires the following.
Ability to work in noise, heat, cold, odors, dirt, outdoor temperatures, snow.
Ability to repetitively push and pull objects weighing up to 50lbs without assistance while kneeling, squatting, reaching above the head, the waist, and below the knees. Must be able to bend at the knees.
Ability to repetitively push and pull equipment (for example, goals, hand truck, uniform bins ?) containing product loads a minimum of 100 yards without assistance.
Ability to repetitively grasp and manipulate objects of varying size and weight requiring fine motor skills and hand-eye coordination.
Ability to repetitively lift, carry, and position objects weighing up to 50lbs without assistance.
Ability to exert oneself physically over sustained periods to complete job activities including walking outside to all athletics facilities and back (up to three miles/day).
Ability to stand a minimum of 6 hours during the workday.
Ability to drive a car, mini-vans or other campus vehicles.
