Provides leadership, instruction, and mentorship in the personal, academic, and athletic development of student-athletes.
Directs and oversees all aspects of the men’s and women’s bowling programs, including planning, organizing, and coaching.
Collaborates with the Director of Athletics to establish competitive schedules and coordinate team travel.
Supports student-athletes through academic, disciplinary, and personal advising; engages with campus partners and faculty as appropriate.
Responsible for hiring, training, and supervising assistant coaches and student managers.
Manages the operating budget for the bowling programs with fiscal responsibility and transparency.
Leads a comprehensive, strategic recruitment plan that identifies, attracts, and yields prospective student-athletes who will thrive at Luther College.
Develops and implements retention strategies in collaboration with athletic department staff and campus partners to support the ongoing success of current student-athletes.
Promotes and upholds the philosophy, values, and objectives of NCAA Division III athletics and adheres to all institutional and departmental policies and procedures.
Attends and actively participates in athletic department meetings, head coach meetings, and other institutional meetings as assigned.
Provides positive, responsive, and professional communication and service to students, faculty, staff, alumni, parents, and campus/community partners.
Performs additional administrative duties within the athletics department based on the candidate’s strengths, interests, and departmental needs.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES :
Supervision of assistant coaches, interns, and student managers (student-work positions).
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE and SKILLS :
Education: Master’s degree preferred; bachelor’s degree required. A combination of education, training, and professional experience equivalent to an advanced degree will be considered.
Experience: Previous collegiate bowling coaching and recruiting experience preferred.
Demonstrated ability to cultivate and maintain strong working relationships with students, faculty, staff, alumni, parents, and friends of the college.
Strong communication, organizational leadership, and interpersonal skills.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS and WORK ENVIRONMENT :
May require explore to adverse environmental conditions such as noise, extreme temperatures, inclement weather, and other adversities as the incumbent performs duties and responsibilities in both indoor and outdoor settings as well as occasional lifting up to 50 pounds and/or the ability to lift, carry, push, or otherwise move objects with a limited amount of force.
