The Head Coach for Women’s and Men’s Cross Country and Outdoor Track oversees all aspects of the women’s and men’s cross country and outdoor (distance events) track program to include the physical, mental, and social development of the individual student-athletes.

Position Description

The Head Coach for Women’s and Men’s Cross Country and Outdoor Track oversees all aspects of the women’s and men’s cross country and outdoor (distance events) track program to include the physical, mental, and social development of the individual student-athletes.

Essential Job Functions

• Plan and implement effective practices and training programs to support competitive excellence.
• Recruit and retain high caliber student-athletes who reflect the values of Seattle University
• Encourage and actively support academic success, persistence to graduation, and holistic student athlete development consistent with The Redhawk Experience (TREx).
• Collaborate with academic, sports medicine and strength and conditioning to support whole student-athlete development and well-being.
• Manage competition scheduling.
• Lead the program with integrity, constantly cultivating a culture of compliance. Complete all rules compliance and NCAA membership related obligations and responsibilities.
• Consistently represent the university, the Athletics department, and the program in a professional manner and as a community ambassador.
• Working closely with athletics development, cultivate donors and supporters.
• Assist and participate with departmental fundraising and public relations efforts and/or promotion of Seattle University Athletics.
• Administer the program’s budget and perform periodic cost and productivity analyses.
• Monitor and evaluate programmatic and operational effectiveness.

Qualifications

• A bachelor’s degree and five years of NCAA Division I coaching and recruiting experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed above.
• The ability and willingness to exercise discretion and have sound professional judgement is required. Must be an effective teacher and motivator.

• Required to complete Coaches Recruiting Certification, annually. Additionally, adult CPR/First Aid/AED certification is required and must be maintained for the entire duration of employment.
  

Preferred Qualifications

• Master's degree with three to seven years’ experience successfully coaching, recruiting and scheduling at the NCAA Division I level.
• An understanding of and appreciation for the culture and recruiting networks of the West Coast and the state of Washington is preferred.

Compensation at a Glance:

Salary Range: $75,000 - $80,000

Seattle University has provided a compensation range that represents its good faith estimate of what the University may pay for the position at the time of posting. The salary offered to the selected candidate will be determined based on factors such as the qualifications of the selected candidate, departmental budget availability, internal salary equity considerations, and available market information, and not based on a candidate’s gender or any other protected status.
