Northland College, an NCAA Division III institution located in Ashland, Wisconsin, seeks qualified candidates for the head men’s and women’s golf coach position.
The head men’s and women’s golf coach has the responsibility for the overall operation of the intercollegiate golf program in accordance with Northland College, Upper Midwest Athletic Conference (UMAC), and National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) regulations. The head coach must have a commitment to the philosophy of providing a competitive NCAA Division III golf program that emphasizes the educational welfare of its student athletes. The position has additional duties in the Athletics Department.
Responsibilities and Qualifications
Responsibilities
Organize, in conjunction with the executive director of intercollegiate athletics, all aspects of the golf program, including facility, competitions, practice schedules, and team operations
Serve as recruiter for the golf program, identifying and evaluating students who are a fit for the institution and organizing their recruitment in conjunction with the Office of Admissions
Complete proper vehicle training to use institutional vehicles for golf team competitions, and acquire and retain proper vehicle licensure to use said vehicles
Act as an ambassador of the College, conducting oneself in a positive manner and heightening awareness of the institution to all of its constituents
Work closely with the promotional and fundraising efforts of the Athletics Department
Follow all institutional, UMAC, and NCAA regulations regarding golf in particular and athletics in general
Project and promote an inclusive education with the highest standards where student athletes are empowered to lead lives of personal significance and professional success
Operate within the mission of the College and the Athletics Department to ensure a full NCAA DIII student-athlete experience
Build successful relationships with alumni
In collaboration with facilities and maintenance, manage all aspects and upkeep of golf facilities, the Chequamegon Bay Golf Club, and all on-campus athletic facilities
Establish and maintain a strong working relationship with the Chequamegon Bay Golf Club
Communicate professionally and proactively within the College community and beyond
Schedule contests and work with conference office on scheduling game officials
Take the NCAA test on regulations and rules
Recruit to expected roster size
Promote and perform fundraising activities, including public speaking and participating in Athletics Department friend and fundraising events
Manage budget in collaboration with athletics administration
Annually declare and receive approval from the executive director of intercollegiate athletics and College president for all outside income
Other duties as assigned by the executive director of intercollegiate athletics and the Office of the President
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree
Previous golf coaching and/or playing experience
Current valid driver’s license
Ability to acquire licensure to operate institutional vehicles
