The Head Coach's responsibilities will include the organization and administration of all aspects of athletic, academic and personal development of the men’s and women’s volleyball program with responsibilities in areas including staff supervision, training and development, recruiting, and budget development. The Head Coach must be able to build positive relationships with scholar-athletes, coaches, staff and campus partners and have a commitment to building sportsmanship, a culture of respect and inclusion for student athletes. They must serve as a campus and community leader representing Pratt Institute's mission and vision.

The Head Coach is responsible for providing visionary leadership, and strategic planning, inspiring the highest ethical standards for student-athletes, cultivating a culture that builds character, mutual respect, and community living among student-athletes, coaches, and departmental staff. Responsible for ensuring the team’s compliance with all institute, national association and conference policies, and rules and regulations as a NCAA Division III member.
The Athletics and Recreation Department is committed to providing a wide range of activities and services that assist Pratt students of various backgrounds and abilities in maintaining a healthy lifestyle. Pratt Institute has an athletics history dating back to the founding of the institution. Currently, Pratt is a member of the NCAA Division III and the Atlantic East Conference.
ATHLETICS DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Direct the men’s and women’s volleyball program by coordinating and completing the following: recruitment and retention of student-athletes, practice sessions, contest preparation, contest management, and administrative duties.
Recruit and retain student-athletes that can meet Pratt’s academic admissions standards and enhance the competitiveness of the program.
Work to support the academic success of student-athletes and to monitor their academic performance.
Collaborate with athletic training staff for documentation and appropriate care of injuries.
Keep abreast of the NCAA, conference and departmental rules and regulations and attend the required departmental meetings.
Ensure compliance with all rules and regulations of the NCAA and Conference.
Develop specific duties for the assistant coach that aid in the overall success of the program, ensure that they adhere to their established performance program and evaluate their performance at the conclusion of the season or year.
Complete administrative duties within deadlines established by the Director of Athletics and Recreation, including roster submission and edits, pre-trip and post-trip meals, hotel and transportation arrangements for both team and recruitment travel, and monthly assessment
Inventory equipment at the end of the season and include in the budget all equipment requests, including those necessary to ensure student-athlete safety.
Seek internal and external opportunities for professional development and collaboration that will enhance work performance and the overall status of the Athletics and Recreation Department.
Complete campus trainings (i.e.: sexual harassment, Title IX) as required
Step in to assist and support other coaches as needed during off season or emergency situations
Support and attend department and campus functions (i.e.: Accepted Students Day, The Charlies, Orientation) as directed.
Attend the required department and division meetings.
Maintain applicable health and safety certifications (i.e. CPR, AED, first aid).
EVENTS AND FACILITIES COORDINATOR - Ensures a high quality experience at the ARC through day-to-day operations, internal and external events, game day operations, equipment upkeep and maintenance, and customer service.
Serve as event and contest administrator, provide onsite event supervision, as assigned by the associate director of athletics.
Provide supervision of the Activity Resource Center (ARC) as a facility supervisor.
Serve as direct supervisor that helps with hiring, training, evaluating, and professional development of student-employees, student-leaders, and part-time employees in various areas of operations and in use of operating various equipment.
Assist with coordination and management of internal software systems for operation of front desk transactions, membership sales, locker rentals, and various concession front desk purchases.
Assist in emergency management and protocol for Athletics and Recreation.
Perform all other duties as assigned by the Director of Athletics & Recreation.
Required Qualifications:
Preferred Qualifications: - Master’s Degree - Head coaching experience at the collegiate level - Demonstrated understanding of an academically rigorous institution, ideally the demands of art and design programs. - Proven recruiter in Athletics
This position has a 10-month work schedule.
