General Description:

These aspects include recruitment and retention of student-athletes, budget development and management, fundraising components, scheduling and management of contests, facility management for practices and contests, and all other aspects necessary for the operation of a first-class Baseball program.
The Athletic Operations Manager is responsible for organizing and administering game set-up and game take-down plans and maintaining, repairing, and receiving all athletic sports equipment and athletic garments. This position devises and implements a general plan for the upkeep and safe storage of all athletic equipment, working closely with the all head coaches and the Athletic Director. The Athletic Operations Manager ensures that all WWCC Athletic department functions, as well as some outside functions, are properly prepared for in regard to facility set-up. This position is also responsible for all NWAC and NIRA athletically related reporting and required statistical updates.
This position is the Sports Information Officer (SIO) responsible for the general reporting, advertising, and promotion of Intercollegiate Athletics at WWCC, including accurate overall Athletic Department reporting to the college and local communities.

This position will support Student Services in executing their outreach and recruitment plan by learning and conveying information about the college, such as the application process, how to become a WWCC student, how to access resources to finance college, and information about student support services.
Essential Functions:
HEAD MEN’S BASEBALL COACH
ATHLETIC OPERATIONS - Maintain required health, safety, and security practices in all athletic facilities and game areas. - Make certain all athletic facilities are properly prepared for all WWCC athletic events in a timely fashion. Work closely with the head coaches and the Athletic Director to make certain set-up is appropriate. Set-up for functions that take place in our facilities by outside groups must also be a priority. - Tear down all facilities set-up at the conclusion of all athletic events or any other appropriate event. - Supervise a crew of student workers to help in facility set-up and tear-down. Monitor and evaluate student worker effectiveness, ensuring accurate records regarding work hours. - Review and approve student time cards in an accurate and timely manner.
Assist the Athletic Director in regard to new and improved fundraising outreach opportunities and be involved in all Athletic Department fundraising events that raise dollars for the overall Athletic Department.
Assist all head coaches in the set up and execution of our ETEAM Sports fundraising campaign.
Be responsible for all NWAC and NIRA athletically related reporting and required statistical updates.
SPORTS INFORMATION OFFICER - Support head coaches and the Athletic Director in promoting all WWCC athletic programs within the college, the local community, and the surrounding area. - Work with the College Marketing Director to coordinate and promote WWCC Athletics within the college and the local community, when applicable. - Create and maintain a positive relationship with all head coaches and all appropriate media sources throughout the local community and the surrounding area. - Report significant student-athlete achievement and accomplishments to appropriate media sources, to include but not limited to, the student-athletes’ hometown media source. - Provide, with the assistance of each head coach, information regarding Athletic Department alumni to include where student athletes transfer and report any significant performance highlights when appropriate. - Write brief updates to WWCC Staff regarding significant accomplishments of Athletic Department personnel, Athletic teams, and student-athletes. - Upload and schedule all games to HUDL and/or Pixolot for live streaming and NWAC requirements.
OUTREACH & RECRUITMENT - Support Student Services in recruiting new students to WWCC - Represent WWCC at recruitment events locally and outside of the Walla Walla Valley - Support prospective students and their families as they navigate becoming a student at WWCC - Offer support and appropriate referrals to prospective and current students and others who engage with the College’s Welcome Center - Support outreach and recruitment events (on- and off-campus) - Participate in onboarding activities as requested - Effectively communicate degree, program offerings, and on-campus student support services - Effectively communicate and assist prospective students and their families in navigating financial aid and scholarship processes - Participate in department and other college meetings to further the work of the College and the Outreach efforts
Supervisory/Managerial Responsibilities: - This position must supervise student-athletes during practices, games, and the overall management of an Intercollegiate Athletic Program. Supervise student work crews relating to the Sports Equipment Technician and Facilities Manager responsibilities.
Budget Authority: - This position will have budget authority over the college’s Baseball budget, as well as the Baseball Program’s fundraising budget.
Plan and manage time effectively; identify and handle competing priorities.
Assist students in exploring options, and identifying and achieving meaningful goals.
Demonstrate respect and maintain strict confidentiality.
Demonstrate organizational skills.
Provide supervisory or leadership skills required to manage student workers on the game management work crew and monitor quality of work and performance.
Demonstrate a knowledge of fundraising and a motivation to carry out and execute fundraising concepts to ensure funds for the overall Athletic Department.
Provide leadership regarding the execution and completion of fundraising events and tasks, and manage work crews when required.
Qualifications:
Any combination of education, experience, and/or training that provides the applicant with the knowledge and skills to perform the job may be considered by the college.

Experience in managing and operating a sports program budget.
Experience using workplace technologies (Microsoft Office and database programs).

This is a full-time, overtime eligible professional position. Persons hired must be able to provide acceptable documentation of lawful authorization to work in the United States within three (3) days of employment. The work environment for this position will be an office setting and out on the field. The physical demands require an ability to perform out in the field teaching and coaching the game of baseball to high-level student-athletes. This contract position work schedule will typically be Monday through Friday 8-hours each day. During the summer, work schedule is Monday through Thursday 10-hours each day. Physical demands also include late night travel to and from all baseball road trips. Travel required includes travel to and from all baseball contests on the road, as well as reasonable and required travel recruiting student-athletes to the program. Travel may be required for outreach and recruitment activities.
Compensation:
Annual salary range for initial placement based on the represented exempt salary schedule is PR02, Step A-F: $61,267-$69,318 , with scheduled salary increment increases every 12 months until you reach the top of the scale. The college has an excellent benefit program including paid sick leave; paid vacation leave; medical, dental, life, and long-term disability insurance; retirement and two optional deferred compensation programs. All full-time employees will automatically have 3% of taxable income deferred into the State of Washington Deferred Compensation Program (DCP). All administrative exempt staff set aside 1% of their gross salary in a Health Reimbursement Arrangement (HRA) (VEBA). All exempt employees are required to participate in this program. Walla Walla Community College requires all employees to participate in direct deposit for payment of salary.
