Men’s Basketball Coach. The successful candidate will have
the opportunity to develop a successful, competitive NCAA
Division III collegiate men’s basketball program, grounded in
discipleship and mentoring. Belhaven is an NCAA Division III
institution sponsoring seventeen sports programs and
holding conference membership in the Collegiate Conference
of the South (CCS). Belhaven University is also a member of
the Council for Christian Colleges and Universities (CCCU).

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES: The Head Men’s Basketball Coach is directly accountable to the Vice President and
Director of Athletics and is responsible for the leadership and administration of all aspects of the basketball
program, including: Recruiting and retaining talented, good-fit student-athletes; providing mature, biblical spiritual
leadership and direction for student-athletes and staff; mentoring student-athletes in their academic performance
to assure timely progress toward degree completion and graduation; coaching the team during scheduled practices
and competitions; demonstrating increasing competitive accomplishment; maintaining responsibility for expense
control with all program expenditures; directing the program within NCAA and CCS rules and regulations;
developing a schedule for competition and team community service activities; cultivating relationships with
campus faculty and staff and external relationships with basketball alumni and friends of the program, as well as
other duties assigned by supervisor.
POSITION REQUIREMENTS: Demonstrated success in coaching men’s
basketball, preferably at the collegiate level, as well as a bachelor’s degree.
Effective verbal and written communication skills; sound interpersonal
skills in dealing with student-athletes, university personnel and members
of the off-campus community; ability to operate a collegiate basketball
program within budget parameters. The candidate must fully support the
vision and mission of the University as well as subscribe to its Statement of
