Georgia Gwinnett College seeks a Head Men's Basketball Coach to provide development, leadership and supervision of a comprehensive and competitive varsity men's basketball program.
1 - 25%
Coordinate and recruit prospective student-athletes through personal visits, telephone conversations, and mail solicitations. In partnership with the Office of Athletics and Executive Director of Athletics serve as a spokesperson on GGC basketball related public discussion. Fundraise in coordination with the Executive Director of Athletics and Office of Development.
2 - 5%
Ensure compliance with institutional, conference and association rules and regulations. In partnership with Internal Operations, monitor eligibility of incoming and current student-athletes.
3 - 60%
Plan, develop, and run organized practice sessions; Secure officials for home games. Work in conjunction with the Executive Director of Athletics to develop game schedules, and plan major purchases; Manage budget and secure travel arrangements including: meals, lodging, and transportation in accordance with allowances; Select, purchase, and maintenance of all team equipment while adhering to athletic department and GGC identity standards.
4 - 10%
Monitor student athletes¿ academic progress and implement strategies to ensure academic and athletic success; Ensure academic success of basketball student athletes, student athletes' retention and graduation rates and GPA should be comparable to those of all GGC students. Ensure the basketball program will be an integral part of the Integrated Educational Experience where learning takes place continuously and in and beyond the traditional classroom; Reinforce the GGC culture by demonstrating sportsmanship, integrity, a competitive spirit, and the importance of academics

Bachelor's degree or higher from an accredited college/university
5+ years of coaching experience at the collegiate level
1+ years supervisory experience (program or people)
Experience coaching intercollegiate athletics at NAIA or NCAA level
Experience with fundraising
Proven record of success both on and off the field
Excellent fiscal, communication, and interpersonal skills
Ability to lead and manage assistant coaches and student staff members
Extensive knowledge and skills in budget development and management
Ability to communicate effectively in writing and orally
Effective organizational and time management skills
Considerable knowledge of computers and various software packages used for word processing, graphs, table, etc. (Microsoft Office 2003, Excel, PowerPoint)
