The University seeks a full-time, 10-month, qualified Head Men’s Soccer Coach. The position reports to the Director
of Athletics and the position is under the Division of Student Life on the Mount Vernon main campus. The university
is a member of the Crossroads League in the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA). MVNU is also
a distinctively evangelical Christian university and the candidate must be in agreement with our mission and
demonstrate a personal, evangelical faith. The position is available beginning the summer of 2017. Salary will be
commensurate with education and experience. A full complement of benefits are provided to full-time employees,
including a health care plan, retirement contributions and tuition assistance, each subject to associated waiting periods.
Responsibilities for this position include:
• Planning, supervising, and directing all phases of the Men’s Intercollegiate Soccer Program:
o Operating the men’s soccer program under the NAIA guidelines
o Operating the men’s soccer program under the Crossroads league conference guidelines
o Organizing and conducting team practice sessions and games
o Recruiting prospective mission fit student-athletes
o Managing the soccer budget each year
o Scheduling games with approval from AD
o Supervising assistant coaches
o Spiritual mentoring
o Assisting in eligibility certification of team
o Managing all other aspects of an intercollege athletic program
o Coordinating summer camp(s), if desired
o Organize and operate program fundraising
o Attending all athletic department meetings.
o Additional assignments as deemed appropriate by the Athletic Director. These could include classroom
instruction depending on capacity of the candidate and needs of the university as well as assistance with game
management.
o Support other athletic events taking place on campus
o Other duties assigned by the Athletic Director

Expectations for the successful candidate:
• Evidence of active church involvement and an evangelical Statement of Faith;
• A master’s degree is required;
• Previous coaching experience at the collegiate level preferred;
• Experience in effective supervision of student-athletes;
• Ability to communicate and work effectively and creatively with students, parents, administrators, faculty and
staff;
• Detail oriented;
• Knowledge of coaching philosophies and implementation within a team;
• Experience in Microsoft Office is very beneficial, but not required.
