Position Summary:
Arkansas Tech University seeks a dynamic, proven leader with the experience and skills necessary to serve as head coach of its nationally-prominent NCAA Division II Men’s and Women’s Golf programs. The successful candidate will inherit a men’s program that has appeared in six NCAA National Championship Tournaments including five-straight from 2017-2022. During that time, the program has also advanced to medal match play each year and captured the 2021 National Championship. The men’s program has also been a mainstay on the regional level with NCAA 15 regional tournament appearances since 2001.
On the women’s side, the program has qualified for six NCAA National Championship Tournaments as a team since 2014. Most-recently, the program advanced to medal match play in 2021. The women’s program has also laid claim to a pair of NCAA Regional Championships and six Great American Conference Tournament Championships.
Both programs have the ability to practice and play as a home course at two premier private golf courses in the State of Arkansas in Chamberlyne Country Club (Danville, Ark.) and the Russellville Country Club (Russellville, Ark.)
This position is responsible for directing all aspects of the men's & women’s golf programs, including GA supervision, recruitment and development of student-athletes, budget development and management, and engaging with members of the university community and citizens of the Arkansas River Valley. He or she will also be responsible for assuring compliance with policies and procedures set forth by Arkansas Tech University, the Great American Conference and the NCAA. The successful candidate will contribute to the ATU Department of Athletics’ nationally recognized culture of community service, oversee the operation of summer camps and cultivate relationships with alumni/community members for the benefit of ATU, the Department of Athletics and the men’s & women’s golf programs.

The head men’s & women’s golf coach reports to the director of athletics and performs other duties as assigned.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Supervision of graduate assistant
Recruitment and development of student athletes
Participation in fundraising is expected
Engaging with members of the university community and citizens of the Arkansas River Valley
Responsible for assuring compliance with policies and procedures set forth by Arkansas Tech University, the Great American Conference and the NCAA.
Contribute to the ATU Department of Athletics nationally recognized culture of community service, oversee the operation of summer camps and cultivate relationships with alumni/community members for the benefit of ATU, the Department of Athletics and the men’s/women’s golf programs.
Other duties as assigned by Director of Athletics
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Excellent ability to grasp and teach golf fundamentals and strategies
Knowledge of the NCAA Division II rules and regulations
A strong public service orientation to work well with faculty, staff, students, and the community
Ability to foster a cooperative work environment
Maintain a commitment to academic and athletic excellence Oral and written communication skills
Computer skills
Minimum Requirements:
B.A. or B.S. Degree
Proven golf coaching experience
Current certification in first aid, cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) and automatic external defibrillator (AED) use or the ability to get certified
Preferred Qualifications:
Collegiate golf coaching experience
Proven fundraising skills
Eligible to drive on behalf of the State of Arkansas
Demonstrated success in the recruitment and development of student-athletes
