JOB DESCRIPTION
Marymount University is seeking a Head Men's & Women's Tennis Coach to continue to build on the success of the program. The Head Men's & Women's Tennis Coach will be tasked with running the program to have a mission and vision that aligns with that of the University. Additionally, the Head Coach will be responsible for promoting the Marymount Tennis program to the tennis community with a heavy focus on recruiting student-athletes to be competitive student-athletes that achieve on the court and in the classroom.
The Head Men's & Women's Tennis Coach will be expected to organize and direct all aspects of the tennis program. This includes, but is not limited to the major duties and responsibilities seen below:
MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Recruit and secure deposits for a strong number of student-athletes to have healthy and stable rosters to compete. This requires a head coach with the ability to conceive, implement, and supervise strategies to evaluate and recruit high-profile Division III athletes to the tennis program through scouting, attending tennis events and home visits, in accordance with NCAA rules and regulations.
Use Frontrush to keep accurate and up to date prospect data and communications
Document recruiting events and input new prospects into the Frontrush database
Develop and execute a strategy for building a regionally and nationally recognized program.
Plan practice sessions to prepare the team to perform at their top level, including film and classroom sessions to prepare for the upcoming NCAA matches
Supervise team travel and make strategical match day decisions
Oversee the plan for season, including competitive schedule and practices, i.e., facilities, practice schedule, supervise travel arrangements for away competition and strategize for subsequent contests.
In conjunction with strength staff, develop training and conditioning program; organize all practice sessions to enhance team performance.
Serve as an ambassador for the University’s Athletic Program through articulation of its mission, public speaking to promote the Marymount tennis program in the state, region, and nation, and communicate with media, alumni, parents, and friends of the University.
Oversees student-athletes academic progress, welfare and retention.
OTHER DUTIES AND ASSIGNMENTS
Recruits, supervises, develops and evaluates the men's & women's tennis coaching staff
Manages budget, equipment procurement, team travel, etc.
Assists in the development of strategies to increase visibility and attendance at home and away events.
Supports and engages the team to be involved in community service programs and campus events.
Performs other duties as assigned.
JOB REQUIREMENTS
Education : Bachelor’s degree.
Experience: At least 3 years of coaching experience, ideally intercollegiate coaching experience. Collegiate competition experience desired. Thorough knowledge of NCAA regulations and guidelines governing the recruitment and retention of student athletes.
Licenses or Certifications: CPR, First Aid and AED certification.
Financial Responsibility: Processes or records financial transactions within established guidelines and safeguards. Reviews and/or approves financial transactions for the men’s & women's tennis program. Submit purchase requests and budgetary questions to the business manager to help in the decision
process to live within a set budget for the program.
Supervision: Training/coaching other employees. Scheduling and providing daily work direction to the assistant coaching staff members.
Special Knowledge: Basic computer skills, including ability to utilize Microsoft applications and recruiting/compliance software (Front rush).
SPECIAL WORKING CONDITIONS
Ability to lift up 50 pounds. May be required to work when the university is closed. Ability to work nights, weekends, and some holidays
