Position Summary:
Missouri Valley College, with one of the largest athletic departments in the country, has an opening for Head Men’s Wrestling Coach. Responsibilities include planning, development, and implementation of activities surrounding team practices and contests, budget management, equipment and supplies, fundraising and recruiting, retention, and more. The head coach is accountable for modeling professional demeanor and mentoring student-athletes with an emphasis on the NAIA Champions of Character model. This position is responsible for ensuring that all wrestling related activities are aligned with the mission of the college and remain in compliance with Missouri Valley College, Heart of America Conference, and NAIA rules and policies.
Responsibilities:
Coordinate and oversee an ethical process for recruiting and retaining student-athletes for your program. ● Administer your program to be in total compliance with Missouri Valley College, NAIA and Conference regulations and policies.
Recruit and maintain a varsity and varsity reserve team as determined by the administration. ● Consistently communicate with Admissions with your recruiting information.
Coordinate schedules for varsity and varsity reserve teams.
Monitor and stay within the parameters of your budget. All purchase orders, expense forms and check requests must be submitted in a timely manner to the Athletic Director.
Monitor and submit all required documentation to the FAR and NAIA to assure eligibility for student-athletes.
Maintain the scholarship average designated by the College for all student-athletes in your program. ● Awarding Institutional Scholarship Funds.
Attend all athletic department functions and meetings.
Coordinate all team travel plans with the Transportation Director in a timely manner. ● Assist the SID with news releases, media guides and other team related materials. ● Be a positive role model for your team and monitor discipline guidelines with your team. ● Submit an updated annual inventory of equipment, uniforms and supplies.
Monitor attendance and academic performance of your team members.
Conduct yourself in a professional manner and display good sportsmanship at all times. ● Work with the Champions of Character Representative to assure that your program is fulfilling NAIA guidelines.
Cooperate and communicate with the Athletic Training Staff.
Be loyal and supportive with the Athletic Department staff, Administration and Faculty. ● All other duties as assigned by the Athletic Director.
