PURPOSE OF POSITION: The purpose of this position is to help assemble and lead a sports performance program team. This person will develop and execute a cutting edge comprehensive athletic performance program at Dordt University. This individual will support the mission of the university, as well as bring knowledge and passion for all athletic programs. The primary focus of this position will be to serve as the Head of Sports Performance for the Dordt University athletic program.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Responsible for leading our sports performance team in the overall administration of the performance enhancement component of the Dordt University athletic program.
Work with each head coach to devise a strategic and comprehensive performance program for each team in the athletic department.
Communicate with each coaching staff on a regular basis concerning progress, needs, and adjustments in their respective programs.
Develop and oversee a system for tracking athletes’ attendance and progress in conjunction with the sport coaches.
Lead a sports performance team that is responsible for weight room supervision, upkeep, and safety while casting a vision for the weight room.
Consistently collaborate with Athletic Training Staff in the rehabilitation and strengthening process of injured athletes.
Partner locally to stand out in the field of strength and conditioning.
Stay current with best practices and research in the field of sports performance.
Oversee the sports performance budget.
Develop regular scheduling of the weight room.
Provide nutritional strategies and training Dordt University student athletes.
Be a leader within the athletic department, including leading in a way which supports and promotes “The Defender Way” as the way to administer a uniquely Christian athletic department at Dordt.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
A clear understanding and commitment to the Reformed perspective and mission of Dordt University and ability to clearly articulate and communicate the mission effectively.
Ability to express an active Christian commitment, which shall include identification with a local organized church that holds to beliefs that are consistent with the mission of the university.

Bachelor's degree is required, Master’s degree is preferred.
Two or more years of experience at the high school, collegiate, or professional level preferred.
Evident of ability to interact positively with student-athletes, colleagues, and the public.
A strong working knowledge and teaching skills in analysis and techniques of sports performance and strength training.
Must hold a current Strength and Conditioning Coach Certified (SCCC) certification and/or the Certified Strength Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) certification, and hold current certifications in CPR, AEA, and First Aid.
Knowledge of NAIA regulations and guidelines governing the recruitment and retention of student-athletes.
