Duties and Responsibilities

Leadership & Coaching

• Teach and develop softball skills for collegiate-level play;
• Promote sportsmanship and act as a role model;
• Ensure compliance with NWAC and college rules;
• Adhere to Title IX policies.

Program Management & Administration - Develop comprehensive practice plans; - Recruit student-athletes following NWAC and SVC guidelines; - Complete necessary paperwork (eligibility, travel, rosters); - Assist with purchasing, scheduling, and fundraising.

Community & Academic Engagement

• Promote the softball program within SVC and the surrounding community;
• Support student-athlete academic progress and retention;
• Engage with conference meetings, fundraising events, and campus initiatives.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

• Associate’s degree or equivalent in a related field;

OR

• Two (2) years of successful coaching experience;
• Collegiate-level softball coaching experience.

Preferred Qualifications - Bachelor’s degree in a related field; - Proven experience recruiting and retaining student-athletes; - Experience working with diverse populations; - Track record of supporting students' academic and athletic success.

Salary and Benefits:

• The head coach stipend is $8,000 - $10,000 annually, depending on experience.
• Potential earnings from Student Services position and state benefit package.
• Contracts are written annually for the period of July 1 to June 30. This position will be filled as soon as practical after a candidate is identified and the salary will be pro-rated for the remaining contract period.
• This position is exempt from the overtime pay requirements of The Fair Labor Standards Act and is civil service exempt.
