| Description |
The Head Strength & Conditioning Coach is responsible for all functions of the Saint Scholastica Weight Room. Manages and reviews all aspects of the strength and conditioning for each intercollegiate sport program at the College. In addition, the Head of Strength and Conditioning is responsible for the proper utilization of facilities and equipment and scheduling of workouts for intercollegiate teams. This position is expected to work non-traditional hours, which includes nights and weekends, throughout the academic year and during break periods.
Required Qualifications:
Education:
A Bachelor's degree required.
Experience:
NCAA accepted certification in Strength & Conditioning.
Current certification in first aid, CPR and AED.
Essential Duties:
Assists in promoting the intercollegiate programs of the College. Is thoroughly familiar with eligibility rules and abides by them. Promotes a high standard of athletics based upon the athletic and academic philosophy of Saint Vincent College, the Presidents' Athletic Conference and the NCAA.
Serves as coordinator of the Saint Scholastica Weight Room.
Develops, implements and directs conditioning programs to enhance the overall health and wellness of student-athletes throughout the academic year and when permissible by NCAA regulations, during break periods.
Educates student-athletes on proper lifting techniques. Instructs the teams, or individual student-athletes in the safe, correct, optimized and efficient execution of exercises in an effort to obtain the desired results as well as ensure the health, mental and physical safety of the student-athletes.
Instructs student-athletes in body management such as correctives, pre-habilitation, and re-generation exercises to reduce unnecessary injuries, and increase consistency and confidence in competitive performance.
Maintains established goals to enhance the nutritional, physical, and mental development to maximize the student-athlete's strength, power, and cardiovascular abilities.
Schedules and supervises strength training and conditioning sessions.
Works closely with the sports medicine staff for the care and prevention of athletic injuries, supporting all student-athlete well-being programs instituted by the sports medicine staff.
Monitors Saint Scholastica weight room equipment condition, maintaining all equipment is kept in good working order and meets safety requirements.
Assists in the determination of fiscal requirements and maintaining fiscal responsibilities in controlling Saint Scholastica weight room expenditures. Monitors, verifies and reconciles expenditures of the budgeted funds. Manages equipment needs and inventory for the Saint Scholastica weight room.
Demonstrates leadership, sportsmanship and conduct becoming of the coaching profession and adhering to all College and NCAA guidelines.
Provides leadership, mentorship, and instruction in the personal, academic and athletic development of student-athletes, throughout the academic year and during break periods, adhering to all polices set forth by the NCAA.
Counsels and mentors student-athletes in academics, disciplinary and personal matters, in consultation with College administration and faculty, throughout the year and during break periods.
Develops and enforces Saint Scholastica weight room policies, in coordination with College and Athletic Department policies.
Maintains professional growth through meetings, clinics and workshops to remain current with strength and conditioning techniques.
Represents the Saint Vincent College Athletic Department in professional, civic, charitable and alumni events throughout the academic year and during break periods.
Participates in Athletic Department fundraising events.
Cooperates with all athletic department staff members to enhance overall departmental operations.
Attends all required NCAA and Presidents' Athletic Conference sport specific and administrative meetings, throughout the academic year and during break periods.
Assists the Athletic Director in assignments of 'Game Day Administrators' and locker rooms as well as the training of student managers for their assignments. Assists in the supervision of 'head managers'
Coordinates and assigns field usage during the academic year, including pre-season varsity sports camps. Works in coordination with Events and Conferencing to secure fields for campus and outside constituents.
Serves as game day administrator for men's and women's basketball games.
Coordinates and schedules visiting teams' locker rooms and officials' locker room for game day usage.
Other Duties:
Serves on committees of the College, as requested.
Carries out special projects and responsibilities as directed by the Athletic Director and President.
