Davis & Elkins College seeks a Head Strength and Conditioning Coach. This position is responsible for overseeing all aspects of strength and conditioning programs for student-athletes within the college’s athletics program. This role involves designing and implementing strength, speed, agility, and conditioning programs to enhance athletic performance, reduce the risk of injury, and promote overall physical development.
RESPONSIBILITIES
*Design, implement, and schedule strength and conditioning programs to enhance the strength, power, agility, speed, and conditioning of student-athletes. Programs should be tailored to the individual needs and sport-specific demands of student-athletes.
*Work in cooperation with the athletic training staff to help reduce the risk of injury and to help develop return to play plans if injuries occur.
*Facilitate a collaborative relationship with sport coaches and athletic training staff.
*Maintain weight room equipment to ensure a clean and safe workspace for student-athletes. Oversee inventory management, procurement, and maintenance of exercise equipment, weights, machines, and training accessories.
*Develop a system for tracking student-athlete attendance and progress in conjunction with sport coaches.
*Determine and reinforce expectations for student-athlete conduct that mirror the school’s expectations.
*Educate student-athletes on proper exercise technique, nutrition, hydration, recovery strategies, and lifestyle habits conducive to optimal performance.

EDUCATION/SKILL REQUIREMENTS:
*B.S. in Exercise Science, Kinesiology, Sports Performance, or related field. Master’s degree preferred.
*Must posses Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) through the National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA) or equivalent credential.
*Current first aid, cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR), and automated external defibrillation (AED) certifications.
*A strong knowledge of basic strength training techniques and Olympic lifts and the ability to demonstrate the appropriate skills and techniques to be used by student-athletes, as well as the ability to visually monitor student-athletes.
*Experience and/or expertise in strength and conditioning programming for collegiate populations. Minimum of two years of experience preferred.
*Excellent interpersonal, leadership, and communication skills. Ability to interact positively with student-athletes, athletic trainers, and other members of the athletic department.
*Must be flexible, self-motivated, and willing to work evenings and weekends.
