QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s degree in related field required, master’s preferred.
Must possess one of the following certifications:
NSCA (National Strength and Conditioning Association) certification - CSCS (Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist)
CSCCa (Collegiate Strength and Conditioning Coaches Association) certification-SCCC (Strength and Coach Certified)

- Must be First Aid/CPR/AED certified.
- Demonstrated experience working as a Strength and Conditioning Coach, preferably at the college level.
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively with college athletes, coaches and administrators.
- Knowledge of and strict adherence to NCAA,NJAC, and University rules and regulations.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Responsible to the Director of Athletics, directly reporting to the Associate Director of Athletics.
Coaching – Organization and Administration of The Strength and Conditioning Program.
- Overall development of strength and conditioning program.
- Determine sport assignments for head and assistant strength and conditioning coaches.
- Know and follow NCAA and NJAC rules as they pertain to training teams and individuals – in season and out.
- Facilitate learning of proper lifting, spotting, and safety techniques.
- Keep current records of all student athletes that are training on a seasonal basis.
- Develop communication system and schedule with the Sports Medicine team for updates on student athletes’ ability to train/injuries.
- Develop summer and off-season programs for designated sports within the rules of the NCAA and NJAC.
- Communicate problems, issues and program improvement ideas involving the strength and conditioning area to the immediate supervisor.
- Learn and research team and individual specific conditioning and training methods and activities.
- Meet with head coaches to assess needs and plan programs.
- Attend department meetings.
- Hire (with the approval of the Athletic Director) and supervise assistant coaches.
- Responsible for equipment purchases in conjunction with the Associate Athletic Director.
- Responsible for issuance and collection of equipment in conjunction with the equipment supervisor.
- Prepare program budget.
- Develop a knowledge of and adhere to NCAA and NJAC rules and regulations.
- Submit an end-of-year report to the Associate Director of Athletics.
- Keep abreast of current and new coaching trends by attending clinics, workshops and conferences when appropriate.
Additional Professional Responsibilities
- Attend clinics and conferences related to program.
- Be an active member in state and national coaching organizations.
- Attend department meetings and activities.
- Serve on department and university wide committees when appropriate.
- Game management as assigned.
- Facility supervision when needed.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Director of Athletics.
