Athletics Internal Operations
The Head Strength Coach will be responsible for the design and implementation of training protocols for the assigned teams and athletes.
Responsibilities & Duties:
Design and implement strength and conditioning training protocols for all teams and athletes assigned to the weight room.
Serve as the primary strength and conditioning coach for a revenue sport and secondary for four other sports as assigned.
Supervise one full-time assistant strength coach assigned as primary strength & conditioning coach for other sports.
Co-lead development and administration of the Racer Nutrition/refueling program, in collaboration with nutrition & dietetics staff/resources on campus and volunteer and/or student assistance.
Supervision of the workout sessions for each team.
Instruction of proper techniques for strength and conditioning.
Supervision of additional/approved non-full-time weight room employees (this may include graduate assistants or student workers)
Maintain detailed inventory and make recommendations for the purchase of new equipment.
Arrange for maintenance and repairs of the weight room equipment to ensure safety.
Ensure safe operation and professional supervision of the strength conditioning facility.
Communicate at a high level.
Assist the athletic training staff in rehabilitation and injury prevention as needed.
Coordinate weekly strength and conditioning meetings.
As a member of the Murray State University Athletics Department, you shall comply with all applicable
NCAA
rules and regulations as provided in the
NCAA
Division I Manual. If you are found in violation of
NCAA
regulations, you shall be subject to disciplinary or corrective action as set forth in the provisions of the
NCAA
enforcement procedures, including suspension without pay or termination of employment for significant or repetitive violations.
Bachelor’s degree required.
Must have valid applicable certification per
NCAA
guidelines.
Two years of strength and conditioning experience at the collegiate level.
One year of direct oversight or participation in administration of strength and conditioning program for collegiate football program.
Certified Strength & Conditioning Coach (
CSCC
) and/or Certified Strength & Conditioning Specialist (
CSCS
) license required.
CPR
& First Aid Certification per
NCAA
guidelines also required.
Ability to effectively setup, manage and/or administer weight room workouts/equipment.
Have the ability to work well with students, faculty, community, and media.
Have demonstrated understanding and strong commitment to cultural diversity.
Have good communication skills.
Have strong leadership skills.
Have strong organizational skills.
Preferred Education and/or Experience Qualifications
Early morning and evening work hours likely. Weekend work hours likely. Will be required to travel with assigned primary team.
