Organizes, manages and directs all aspects of the
NCAA
Division I Swimming and Diving program. Providing leadership and ensuring the swimming and diving program complies with the overall objectives of the institution and the department.
Responsible for all strategic aspects of planning and administering a Division I Swimming and diving program.
Develops, manages, administers, supervises, and coordinates a
NCAA
Division I swimming and diving program.
Ensures the program adheres to all applicable
NCAA
, Conference and Institutional rules and regulations.
Manages all daily operations and coordinates all administration facets of the Swimming and Diving program.
Ensures institutional compliance with all certified pool operator duties.
Oversees all aspects of the financial operation of the Swimming and Diving program to include engaging in fund-raising activities for the program in conjunction with athletic advancement.
Oversees statistical analysis of recruitment initiatives for athletically and academically qualified student-athletes through scouting, attending competitions and home visits.
Instructs, teaches, and coaches student-athletes during practice and competition. Conducts video analysis and instruction as a teaching and preparation tool. Plans practice and/or game-day strategy.
Hires, supervises, and evaluates assistant coaches.
Oversees the administrative process for team travel, program budgets, and student eligibility.
Monitors student-athletes’ academic progress, athletics development, and student’s retention.
Manages contest scheduling and event management.
Represents sports program to various institutional programs and externally to media, government agencies, funding agencies, students, parents, and the general public.
Supports the philosophy, goals and the mission of the university and its athletic programs as well as adhering to departmental, university, and
NCAA
policies and procedures.
Performs other duties as assigned.
General supervision from Vice President and Director of Athletics or designee.
General supervision of support staff assigned and Assistant Coaches.
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution of higher education.
Master’s degree from an accredited institution of higher education; First Aid certification preferred.
Lifeguard/Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation (
CPR
) Certified by the American Red Cross.
As condition of employment this position requires the applicant to be authorized to operate a University-Owned Vehicle for Official University Business. Per University of Texas System Policy 157, applicants will be subject to a motor vehicle record check for their most recent thirty-six (36) month history. Out of State Drivers are required to submit a 36-month history
MVR
from their prior State of residence(s).
Seven (7) years of professional, collegiate, or high school coaching experience.

Needs to be able to successfully perform all required duties. Long and varied hours. Frequent weekend and evening activities. Travel with overnight and/or multi-day stays required.

is a distributed institution, which requires presence at multiple locations throughout the Rio Grande Valley.

Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with associates, colleagues, students, and members of the University staff. Ability to relate professionally and positively in a stressful environment.
Display good long-range planning skills for the future development of the program and able to make administrative/procedural decisions and judgments. Anticipate problems, critical issues, and opportunities as they arise and advises the Vice President and Director of Athletics accordingly.
