JOB SUMMARY
Simmons University, an NCAA Division III member of The Great Northeast Athletic Conference is accepting applications for the position of head volleyball coach. Reporting to the Director of Athletics and Recreation, this position is responsible for the direction of the volleyball program, including, but not limited to the recruitment and retention of academically and athletically qualified student athletes, supervision of the assistant coach(es), budget management, on-court coaching, innovation regarding fundraising and alumni engagement.

JOB SUMMARY

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

Conduct all official practices and games – 19 weeks
Create pre-season (2 weeks,) traditional season (12 weeks) and off-season practice schedules (5 weeks)
Teach individual skills and game strategy
Mange team travel trips
Hire, train and supervise assistant coaching staff (2)
Ensure all NCAA eligibility and medical clearance processes in coordination with Head Athletic Trainer
Manage team funds and fundraising activities
Conduct athlete leadership training
Manage family/parent support and engagement
Mentor and counsel individual athletes with issues of concern and make appropriate referrals
Nationally recruit academically qualified student athletes
Develop and execute a communication plan
Identify recruits
Assist applicant from introduction, prospect to applicant, to completion of deposit
Coordinate and conduct annual alumnae game
Attend Admissions open houses and other Campus Wide Events
OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
A Bachelor’s degree is required.
A minimum of 3 years of college coaching experience
Demonstrated knowledge of NCAA Division III rules and regulations governing recruitment, player eligibility and related functions is required.
Applicant must hold a valid driver's license.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Master’s degree is preferred
Head coaching experience preferred
Collegiate playing experience is also preferred.
WORK ENVIRONMENT & CONDITIONS/PHYSICAL DEMANDS
On-Campus with opportunity for 1-2 remote days based on schedule
12 months
40 hours/week
The position will require occasional lift, push, pull up to 50 lbs.
The scope of the position requires frequent weekend and evening hours.
