Directs, provides leadership, and oversees all coaching duties for the Volleyball Program. Directs and coordinates all aspects of recruitment and training for athletic competition and oversees the planning of the program activities.
• Responsible for the overall success, performance, and conduct of NMHU’s NCAA Division II Volleyball Program in the areas of academics, athletics, and student athlete conduct;• Supervise, plan, and coordinate the activities of the Volleyball Program;• Manages supplies and equipment allocated to the Volleyball program;• Advises and counsels student athletes regarding academic programs to ensure adequate progress towards a degree;• Oversees student athlete conduct and discipline;• Works closely with the Sports Information Director in regards to news releases and related media guides;• Hire, manage, and evaluate the assistant coaching staff;• Recruit student athletes in accordance with NCAA, RMAC, and NMHU rules and regulations;• Promote and represent the Volleyball program, the Athletics Department, and New Mexico Highlands University through marketing and public relations activities;• Develop, coordinate, and execute fundraising activities;• Manage all aspects of the financial operation of the Volleyball Program;• Performs other job-related duties as assigned;• Maintains regular attendance.
• Education: Bachelor’s Degree in any field.• Experience: Four (4) years volleyball coaching experience required.
• Demonstrated successful collegiate coaching experience;• Experience recruiting in the Southwest Region.
• Complete 2023-2024 Coaches Certification Required Courses within 14 days of employment;• Must possess and maintain a valid New Mexico Driver’s License. Selection of an out of state candidate will require possession of a valid New Mexico Driver’s license within sixty (60) days of employment;• Must be willing to work evenings, weekends and odd hours.
• Knowledge of applicable team or individual sports and playing rules;• Ability to exhibit strong leadership and management skills;• Knowledge and skill in budget preparation and fiscal management;• Knowledge and willingness to learn, then exhibit strong adherence to NCAA, RMAC, and NMHU rules, regulations and policies;• Knowledge of NCAA student athlete academic eligibility requirements;• Demonstrated competitive coaching skills in area of sporting specialty;• Strong interpersonal and communications skills;• Ability to work effectively with a wide range of constituencies in a diverse community;• Knowledge of NCAA recruiting rules;• Knowledge of travel/lodging planning and scheduling;• Ability to foster a cooperative work environment;• Organizing and coordinating skills;• Knowledge of athletic recruitment methods and techniques;• Strong leadership and management skills;• Knowledge of athletic recruitment methods and techniques;• Skill in budget preparation and fiscal management;• Knowledge and willingness to learn, then exhibit strong adherence to NCAA, RMAC, and NMHU rules, regulations and policies;
