Position Summary:
Arkansas Tech University seeks an individual with the skills, experience and drive necessary to return its volleyball program to a championship level in the NCAA Division II Great American Conference.
The successful candidate will take over a Golden Suns volleyball program that has won 937 matches all-time, earned 13 regular season conference titles, captured five GAC Tournament championships and made six NCAA Division II Tournament appearances.
This position is responsible for directing all aspects of the volleyball program, including assistant coach supervision, recruitment and development of student-athletes, budget development and management and engaging with members of the university community and citizens of the Arkansas River Valley. He or she will also be responsible for assuring compliance with policies and procedures set forth by Arkansas Tech University, the Great American Conference and the NCAA.

The successful candidate will contribute to the ATU Department of Athletics' nationally recognized culture of community service, oversee the operation of summer camps and cultivate relationships with alumni/community members for the benefit of ATU, the ATU Department of Athletics and the volleyball program. This position is responsible for health and safety, teaching team concepts and improving athletic performance.
The head volleyball coach reports to the director of athletics and performs other duties as assigned.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Recruit, supervise, train, and evaluate assistant coaching staff.
Recruitment and development of student athletes.
Budget development and management.
Development of game and practice schedules.
Knowledge of the NCAA Division II rules and regulations.
A strong public service orientation to work well with faculty, staff, students, and the community.
Ability to foster a cooperative work environment.
Responsible for the academic progress and success of student-athletes .
Responsible for overseeing all aspects of the volleyball program within the guidelines set forth by Arkansas Tech University, the Great American Conference, and the NCAA.
Spearhead fundraising efforts to support programmatic needs and enhancements.
Plan and operate summer camps along with community and alumni relations/cultivation.
Teach an online orientation to the university class each semester.
Respond to all administrative correspondence in the requested timeframe and attend all staff meetings.
Follow all Arkansas Tech University policies and procedures.
Other duties as assigned by Director of Athletics.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Volleyball Coaching Experience
Proven fundraising skills
Eligible to drive on behalf of the State of Arkansas or the willingness to become eligible
Demonstrated success in the recruitment and development of student-athletes
Knowledge of the NCAA Division II rules and regulations
Excellent oral and written communication skills
Excellent Computer skills
Minimum Requirements:
B.A. or B.S.
Proven volleyball coaching experience
Current certification in first aid, cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) and automatic external defibrillator (AED) use or the ability to get certified.
Preferred Qualifications:
Master's degree
Head Collegiate Volleyball Coaching experience.
