Harris-Stowe State University invites applications for the position of Head Women’s Basketball Coach. This position is responsible for planning, directing, and overseeing all aspects of the Women’s Basketball program, including the recruitment, conditioning, training, and performance of student-athletes, as well as fiscal and operational program management. Education & Experience Requirements
Minimum Qualification:
Bachelor’s degree is required; Masters preferred.
Candidates must have a minimum of three (3) years of collegiate coaching experience and/or five (5) years of head coaching experience at the high school level along with collegiate coaching experience.
Applicants should possess demonstrated experience in recruiting, coaching techniques and skill development, camp coordination and facilitation, community engagement, team building, and fundraising. Candidates must also have the ability to drive vans for team travel. Experience with NAIA eligibility and compliance is preferred. Preference will be given to candidates who are familiar with the NAIA and HBCU environment.
Other Required Skills & Abilities
Must have the ability to sit and stand for extended periods; exhibit manual dexterity to dial a telephone, see and read a computer screen and printed material with or without vision aids; hear and understand speech at normal levels, outdoors and on the telephone; speak in audible tones so that others may understand clearly.
Must have the physical agility to lift up to 25 pounds to shoulder height and 50 pounds to waist height; and to bend, to stoop, to sit on the floor, to climb stairs, to walk and to reach overhead. Must have a valid driver’s license.
