MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Develop and execute a strategy for building a regionally and nationally competitive team.
• Oversee the plan for season, including competitive schedule and practices, i.e., facilities, officials, practice schedule, supervise travel arrangements for away competition and strategize for subsequent contests.
• In conjunction with strength & conditioning staff, develop training and conditioning program; organize all practice sessions to enhance team performance.
• Conceive, implement, and supervise strategies to recruit high-profile Division III athletes in the basketball program through scouting, attending tournaments/showcases/games/clinics, and home visits, in accordance with NCAA rules and regulations. Goal to have a full and robust roster
• Use of Frontrush to keep accurate and up to date prospect data and communications. Document recruiting events and input new prospects into the Frontrush database.
• Serve as an ambassador for the University’s Athletic Program through articulation of its mission, public speaking to promote the Marymount basketball program in the state, region, and nation, and communicate with media, alumni, parents, and friends of the University.
• Oversees student-athletes academic progress, welfare and retention.

OTHER DUTIES AND ASSIGNMENTS

• Supervises and helps evaluate the assistant coaching staff and graduate assistant.

• Manages budget, equipment procurement, team travel, etc.

• Assist in the development of strategies to increase visibility and attendance at home and away events.

• Supports and engages the team to be involved in community service programs and campus events.

• Performs other duties as assigned.

JOB REQUIREMENTS

Education

Bachelor’s degree.

Experience

At least 5 years of coaching experience, ideally intercollegiate coaching experience. Collegiate playing experience desired. Thorough knowledge of NCAA regulations and guidelines governing the recruitment and retention of student athletes.

Licenses or Certifications

CPR, First Aid and AED certification.

Financial Responsibility

Processes or records financial transactions within established guidelines and safeguards. Reviews and/or approves financial transactions for the women’s basketball program. Submit purchase requests and budgetary questions to the Associate Director to help in the decision process to live within a set budget for the program.

Supervision

Training/coaching other employees. Scheduling and providing daily work direction to the assistant women’s basketball coaching staff members.

Special Knowledge

Basic computer skills, including ability to utilize Microsoft applications and recruiting/compliance software (Front rush).

SPECIAL WORKING CONDITIONS

Ability to lift up 50 pounds. May be required to work when the university is closed. Ability to work in less than ideal weather conditions (i.e. high heat and below freezing temperatures with various precipitation).

Ability to work nights, weekends, and some holidays
