Mount St. Mary's University, an NCAA Division I institution and member of the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC), is seeking qualified candidates for a 12-month, full-time position as Head Women’s Bowling Coach. Reporting to the Athletic Director, the Head Coach leads the NCAA Division I Women’s bowling program by recruiting and developing qualified student-athletes, overseeing student-athlete retention, and managing schedules. Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

The Head Coach is responsible for planning and executing a successful program. This must operate within the framework of the NCAA and MAAC and coincide with the philosophy, mission, goals, and objectives of the University and the Athletic Department.

1. To be responsible for a successful program. This involves:

• Adhering to and knowing all NCAA, MAAC, and University rules and regulations.
• Lead the recruitment of quality student-athletes.
• Manage the academic progress of all student-athletes through interaction with the Academic Support personnel.
• Provide counseling, training, motivation, and conditioning of athletes for the maximum individual and team performances.

1. Manage the planning of the sports program. This involves:

• Managing an annual challenging and competitive schedule.
• Recommending improvements to increase the success of the program.
• Prepare detailed practice and playing season information.

1. Develop and manage program annual budget. This includes:

• Planning for and projecting the annual budget for the program.
• Being accountable for expense control of the budget.
• Submitting reports concerning the condition of the program.

1. Interact with other university departments on athletic activities. This includes, but is not limited to:

• Assisting Sports Information with statistics, press releases, publications, etc.
• Assisting with the athletic facilities and equipment personnel in ordering, maintaining, and storing equipment.
• Confer with the Trainer on the physical status and rehabilitation of athletes in the program.
• Assist in fund-raising efforts with the Athletic Director.
• Avoid violations of rules and regulations within the program, including all support areas.
• Know the procedures concerning drug testing of student-athletes as a condition of participating in NCAA championships.

1. Promote a safe, secure, and enjoyable work environment. This involves:

• Attempt to ensure that student-athletes have an enjoyable sports experience.
• Promote a cooperative attitude and efficient and courteous decorum with all staff.
• Promote proper utilization of equipment, tools, and staff.

1. To perform other related duties as directed or dictated by the Athletic Director and President.

Job Requirements: Education, Experience and Skills:

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS :

• A commitment to support and enhance the Catholic identity of the University.
• A commitment to support and enhance an inclusive university community, as well as comfort and experience working with diverse populations.
• Bachelor’s degree required.
• Applicants must have collegiate playing experience and a proven track record of coaching at appropriate and progressive levels, demonstrating their practical skills and knowledge—thorough knowledge of NCAA rules and regulations.
• Required to travel and the ability to work nights, weekends, and holidays.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, strong attention to detail, and keep specific timelines.
• Strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills with the ability to problem solve.
• Ability to work and communicate effectively with coaches, students, faculty, administration, alums, and community.
