Division I member of the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (
MEAC
) located in Princess Anne, MD invites resumes for a highly motivated individual for a full-time exempt position with benefits. Salary is commensurate with qualifications and experience.
The Head Bowling Coach oversees all aspects of coaching a Division I women’s bowling program. This includes but is not limited to recruiting both nationally and internationally; creating team cohesiveness, maintaining student-athlete retention; maintaining the program’s academic standing budget oversight; managing team and individual practices; maintaining the on-campus bowling center and related equipment; creating a competitive schedule; attending staff meetings; coordinating team travel; and maintaining positive relationships with student-athletes, faculty, administration, staff, donors, and the community.
Ensures that the

bowling program conforms with the standards and requirements of the university,
MEAC
,
NCAA
and
USBC
Manages and directs players during games according to collegiate standards for sportsmanship and the rules of the college athletic associations.
Schedules, coordinates, mentors, and coaches team members during practice sessions.
Responsible for the effective training, mentoring, and discipline of the program staff and student participants.
Establishes performance goals and standards for players and fairly enforces those standards.
Provides encouragement and support for student academic growth, enforces University and
NCAA
academic standards for academic performance.
Responsible for the behavior of team members at all events that fall within the purview of bowling coach, demonstrates, encourages, and appropriately corrects behaviors to reflect the standards of
UMES
and administers discipline with due consideration for the dignity and self-respect of the individuals under their responsibility.
Supports the athletic administration in creating a good environment for spectators at all matches.
Responsible for the proper motivation of the student athletes whereby players find success in working hard to accomplish goals, and in an objective manner respects the individual’s ability.
As a representative of the University, maintains an image of professionalism at all times.
Recruits student-athletes for the team in coordination with the bowling sports administrator.
Helps chauffeur team to all away meets in accordance with college policy.
Responsible for overseeing the budget for the bowling program and recommends the purchase of all equipment and uniforms. Adheres to all college policies and procedures.
Directs and coordinates all bowling tournaments hosted by the college.
Performs other related duties as assigned.

Bachelor’s degree.
USBC
certification.
Bowling experience preferably at the collegiate level.
Must have a desire to work in college athletics, be goal oriented, hardworking, and have the ability to maintain a pleasant and helpful manner under stressful conditions.
Preference will be given to candidates who have experience working in collegiate athletics and experience coaching student-athletes
Must have excellent organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills.
Knowledge of
MEAC

USBC
rules and compliance.
Ability to work and communicate effectively with students, faculty, administration, alumni, and the public.
Video editing and game preparation skills.
Knowledge of scheduling, team organization, and working with student athletes
Ability to monitoring academic progress.

USBC
certification.
