Head Women’s Flag Football Coach (Part-time)

Job Summary

The primary responsibility of this position is to instruct and develop flag football student-athletes in a manner that supports the university's academic mission. The Head Coach is responsible for providing instruction, skill development, and leadership for the flag football program while organizing team operations, recruiting qualified student-athletes, and ensuring compliance with university, conference, and NCAA rules and regulations. This position is classified as exempt under FLSA regulations.

The respective head coach is expected to recruit a class for Fall 2027 enrollment. The team will compete at the club level during the Spring of 2027, before moving to varsity for the Spring 2028 season.

Specific Responsibilities

• Instruct, develop, and mentor student-athletes through effective coaching, skill development, practice planning, and competition while supporting the University's educational mission.
• Design and implement organized practices, training programs, and competitive game strategies that promote individual and team success.
• Recruit, evaluate, and retain qualified student-athletes who are academically and athletically aligned with the University's mission and program goals.
• Foster a positive team culture by promoting sportsmanship, leadership, accountability, inclusion, and student-athlete well-being.
• Partner with athletic administration, faculty, and campus stakeholders to support student-athlete academic achievement, eligibility, retention, and graduation.
• Develop and manage the program schedule, including varsity and competitive club contests, and oversee team travel, equipment, and supplies.
• Administer the program operating budget and support fundraising, alumni engagement, promotional activities, and community outreach initiatives.
• Hire, supervise, mentor, and evaluate assistant coaches and other assigned staff while ensuring compliance with university, conference, and NCAA policies and procedures.
• Maintain compliance with all NCAA Division III, conference, and University rules, regulations, and policies.

Minimum Qualifications

Education

Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree preferred.

Experience

Minimum of two years of flag football and/or football coaching and recruiting experience required. Prior Head Coach experience is preferred.

• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.

• Ability to assess the developmental needs of student-athletes and provide effective instruction, coaching, mentorship, and constructive feedback to support continuous improvement.

This role is identified as one that includes significant interaction with students and/or campus activities, and/or has oversight for disciplinary procedures. Physical Demand

The position requires the ability to actively instruct and supervise practices, training sessions, and athletic competitions. Duties require standing, walking, and moving continuously for extended periods, as well as the ability to demonstrate athletic skills and techniques. The position requires frequent bending, stooping, crouching, kneeling, reaching, and lifting equipment. Regular movement throughout campus and travel to practices, competitions, recruiting events, and other program-related activities is required. Work is performed in both indoor and outdoor environments and may involve exposure to varying weather conditions.
