Lenoir-Rhyne University (Hickory, NC), an NCAA Division II and proud member of the South Atlantic Conference, seeks qualified candidates for its head women’s soccer coach vacancy. This position directs the development, organization and management of all phases of the women’s soccer program. Recruiting, retaining and graduating qualified student-athletes, as well as applying effective coaching, mentoring techniques and player development strategies that result in successful competition, is the primary purpose of this position.

• Provide leadership and instruction in the personal and athletic development of student-athletes at Lenoir-Rhyne University.
• Direct and coordinate the activities of the soccer program in the planning, organizing and coaching of the team; ensure compliance with the university, conference, and NCAA policies and regulations.
• Direct the soccer staff and team in the preparation of analyses of opposing teams; analyze statistics and technical data of opponents and prepare match strategy accordingly.
• Counsel team members in academic, disciplinary and personal matters; consult with university administration and faculty for resolution of problems when necessary.
• Assign geographical areas to and supervise the women’s soccer staff in the strategic recruitment of new players; determine recipients of women’s soccer scholarships in accordance with university admission policies and NCAA rules.
• Determine fiscal requirements and prepare budgetary recommendations; monitor, verify and reconcile expenditures of budgeted funds.
• Direct various personnel functions including, but not limited to, hiring, merit recommendations, promotions and professional development of staff.
• Study, evaluate and implement training innovations in women’s soccer strategy, equipment, and facilities.
• Represent the Lenoir-Rhyne University athletic department in professional, civic and alumni events.
• Develop and execute a fundraising strategy in coordination with the Director of the Bears Club to increase revenues to enhance the student-athlete experience. 
• Perform other related duties incidental to the work described herein, as assigned by university administration, if mutually agreeable.

Required knowledge, skills and abilities include:

• Bachelors degree required 
• Collegiate-level coaching experience with a demonstrated understanding of NCAA DII Rules with a preference for head coaching experience 
• Demonstration of successful collegiate recruiting experience 
• Strong leadership skills with the ability to develop a culture of excellence 
• Strong communication skills

The LR women’s soccer program has a long-standing tradition of athletic and academic excellence, including posting a program record of 112-36-21 and a winning percentage of .725 since 2015. The program has won nine regular-season conference championships and four conference tournament titles. The program has advanced to 10 NCAA tournaments, including hosting the 2023 first round of the NCAA Tournament. 2021 was a record year for the Bears who advanced to the Final Four and finished the season ranked No. 4 in the final national poll. This past year, the Bears went undefeated until losing in the National Quarterfinals after winning the NCAA Regional Championship.
