Basic Function/Definition

This is a recruitment to fill a part-time position. You will be contacted by the hiring manager should the department or division be interested in scheduling an interview.

Under the direction of the Dean of Kinesiology & Athletics and the Athletic Director, perform all duties normally expected of a community college head coach including the following: recruitment of players, scheduling contests, plan and supervision of practices, games and travel, assist in hiring assistant coaches, maintain positive relationships with all feeder programs, prepare budgets, conduct fundraising activities, adhere to district, conference and 3C2A regulations, and teach Athletic, Kinesiology, and/or Health classes designed to support the department and enhance Women’s Soccer. Coaching and teaching assignments will not exceed 60% in any single semester.

Essential Duties

• Provide comprehensive instruction, technical training, and leadership to student-athletes.

• Closely monitor and support student-athlete academic success

• Adhere to all College, conference, and 3C2A statewide athletic policies, rules, and regulations.

• Positively represent Rio Hondo College at all times through ethics, sportsmanship, and integrity.

• Adhere to established athletic department budgetary and spending guidelines.

• Develop and implement a fundraising plan to supplement district funding.

• Arrange for lodging, meals, and transportation for off-campus travel to away competitions.

• Develop a recruitment plan for student athletes coming into the program.

• Attend Athletics and Division-wide meetings.

• Establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with those contacted in the performance of duties.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree AND two years of professional experience, OR any Associate degree and six years of professional experience.

Responsibilities

Have a commitment to professional excellence and continuous growth in the fields of teaching.

Other professional responsibilities and activities normally expected of members of community college faculty as described by Board Policies and the California Education code.

Foreign Degrees

Any degree from a country other than the United States, including Canada and Great Britain, must be evaluated by an Evaluation Service prior to the closing date. Certification must be attached with copies of transcripts.

License Certificates/Credentials

Desired Qualifications

• Master’s degree in Physical Education or related field.

• Intercollegiate coaching experience in Women’s or Men’s Soccer

• Teaching experience at the community college level

• Experience in using innovative teaching methods that encourage student engagement and learning.

• Experience in the use of computer technology as a teaching tool, including experience with course management systems (i.e., Blackboard, Canvas, etc.).

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

• Ability to work successfully in a team environment.
