The Head Softball Coach reports directly to the Senior Associate Athletic Director for Student Services and is responsible for the organization and administration of the softball program in accordance with the rules and regulations of the University, Horizon League and the
NCAA
.
The Head Softball Coach must have a commitment to developing a competitive
NCAA
Division I softball program, while maintaining an emphasis on the academic success and well-being of the student-athletes. The Head Softball Coach will be expected to administer the program in a manner that promotes the health, safety and welfare of the student-athlete.
Compliance with
NCAA
rules is of utmost importance at Northern Kentucky University. As a member of the athletics department staff, it is expected that the Head Softball Coach will have a full understanding of the
NCAA
rules that pertain to the position. It is also expected that the Head Softball Coach will comply with all
NCAA
rules and if he/she becomes aware, or has reasonable cause to believe, that a violation of a rule has occurred he/she will immediately report it to the Director of Athletics or his/her designee.
The Head Women’s Softball Coach duties include, but not limited to:
Planning, coordinating and implementing in-season practice, including team and individual workouts. Planning, coordination and implementation of out-of-season practice, including individual skill instruction and team workouts, focusing on the development of athletic skills to compete at the Division 1 level.
Planning and implementation of game plan for each game, including scouting reports of opponents
Recruit student-athletes in accordance with
NCAA
regulation and academic standards, as well as university academic requirements
Hire, evaluate and develop Assistant Softball coaches
Monitor budget to ensure the Softball program is fiscally responsible and expenditures are within budget allocation
Prepare game schedule on an annual basis
Establish procedures to monitor the academics of each of the Softball student-athletes.
Effectively communicate with Athletics Academic Advisor to ensure any academic concerns are being addressed
Complete all necessary compliance forms as required and/or requested by the Athletic Compliance office. Comply with

rules and regulations
Participate in fundraising activities for the Softball Program and/or the Department of Athletics. Be actively engaged within the university as well as the surrounding committees
Coordinate strength and conditioning program with the Director of Sports Performance. Support the mental and physical health and wellbeing of the student-athletes by working in conjunction with the athletics care team members
Bachelor’s degree
Minimum 3 years related coaching experience;
NCAA
Division I/II coaching experience required
