Kenyon College invites applications for the position of Head Women’s Tennis Coach. This is a full time, 10-month reporting position with benefits. The Head Women’s Tennis Coach is responsible for leading an NCAA D-III Head Women’s Tennis Program in accordance and compliance with NCAA, NCAC, and Kenyon College policies and regulations. The Head Women’s Tennis Coach will fulfill the following responsibilities: coaching student athletes, scouting opponents, and recruiting. Additional responsibilities will be assigned in game management, teaching, and/ or administration.

It is also expected that the Head Women’s Tennis Coach will embrace the department mission of fostering learning and developing community with a focus on the values of citizenship, competition, resiliency, sportsmanship, and teamwork within Kenyon’s unique campus culture. The Head Women’s Tennis Coach serves the Department of Athletics, Fitness and Recreation in the Division of Student Affairs. This position reports to the Director of Athletics (or a designee) and supports the mission of the College in its focus on student development, outcomes and success. This is a ten (10) month position with benefits that includes morning, evening and weekend responsibilities.

Essential Functions

  • Teach and instruct student-athletes in the rules and fundamentals of tennis.
  • Develop and implement in-season training and workouts, practice and game-day coaching.
  • Compile training results for all events and assist with statistics verification for official records and sports information.
  • Provide home match management for women’s tennis, including set-up and tear down of equipment.
  • Recruit academically and athletically strong applicants for admission in the selective, highly competitive application pool at Kenyon College utilizing ARMS software, including preparing promotional materials.
  • Maintain excellent record keeping for all purchases and expenses for the program, to stay within the budget.
  • Work in conjunction with athletic trainers to maintain student-athlete welfare.
  • Stay up-to-date with sport and coaching best practices in order to provide opportunities for all involved in the program to become students of the game by sharing knowledge of the sport.
  • Participate in the NCAC governance for women’s tennis at coaches meetings.
