PURPOSE:
The Athletics Department invites applications for the Head Women's Volleyball Coach position. This
position will administer and manage all functions and oversight of the volleyball program. Provide an
excellent, transformative student-athlete experience and demonstrate positive progress in competitive
standing in the Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference. The Head Coach of Miles College Women
Volleyball NCAA Division II program is an integral member of the Athletic Department and requires an
enthusiastic, pro-active, high-energy individual who provides a transformative positive student-athlete
experience and demonstrates positive progress in competitive standing in the Southern Intercollegiate
Athletic Conference.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Qualifications: Applicant must pass a background check. Bachelor’s degree; Four years of
experience as a volleyball coach; proven ability to recruit, develop, and retain high-quality student-athletes
from diverse backgrounds; Effective communication skills and ability to interact with various people.
Preferred Qualifications: Experience as a volleyball coach at the NCAA Division II level; head volleyball
coaching experience; experience recruiting domestically and internationally.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
• Recruitment - coordinate recruiting efforts to meet discussed benchmarks to ensure the volleyball
program is playing and practicing at, or above, the ideal number of student-athletes. Provide monthly
recruiting updates to the Director of Athletics and Admissions team.
• Prepare and conduct all practice and game plans
• Prepare travel arrangements for team away games
• Responsible for putting a schedule together that meets NCAA Division II requirements and minimizes
the amount of class time missed for competitions
• Manage home volleyball game set-up
• Follow budget guidelines set forth by the Director of Athletics and coordinate fundraising efforts when
needed
• Attend staff, admissions, athletic conferences, and institution meetings/events when required
• Knowledge of and adherence to Miles College Athletics Department Coaches and Student-Athletes
Handbooks, NCAA Division III and Conference rules/ regulations regarding recruiting, eligibility,
competition, compliance, etc.
• Responsible for team management, academic monitoring, fundraising, and community engagement
planning
• Promote and encourage a positive learning experience for student-athletes, commit to developing the
whole person, and nurture bold, brilliant women.
• Hire, train, supervise, and evaluate assistant coaching staff, including 1 student/graduate Assistant
• Assist as needed with the management of other home athletics events
• Perform other duties as assigned by the Director of Athletics.
• Perform additional duties as assigned.
Administrative duties • Including but not limited to completing all required departmental and institutional
training and certification programs and participating regularly in available professional development
opportunities. • Develop and submit the sport’s annual budget and carefully track all expenditures to ensure
fiscal responsibility. Manage the scholarship budgets • Monitor the eligibility status and academic progress
of the team. • Initiate and coordinate the selection, purchase, fitting, and maintenance of team equipment,
including uniforms, athletic equipment, and supplies. • Hire, supervise, and evaluate all assistant coaches
for the sport and ensure their compliance with NCAA and department rules, policies, and procedures. •
Conduct annual performance evaluations as appropriate. • Arrange team travel arrangements for all events.
• Assist with approved fundraising activities as requested and coordinate all fundraising efforts with the
Director of Athletics • Assure that sports camps and clinics related to the sports program adhere to NCAA
and institutional rules and regulations. •Perform all other duties as assigned.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES
Specific Skills • Communicate effectively and professionally, including written, interpersonal, and
public speaking. •Must be willing to work early morning, evening, weekends, and holidays.
Specialized Licenses • First Aid, CPR, and AED training certification are required.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:
This opportunity involves being available to work a flexible schedule. The specific hours will be decided
through mutual agreement with the Director of Athletics, aiming to accommodate best the needs of the
volleyball program and the athletics department. Hours during traditional and non-traditional seasons will
vary, with more consistent hours expected between seasons. The work environment is typical of an office
setting but may occasionally involve physical tasks such as lifting up to 50 lbs, reaching, bending,
stooping, and carrying objects. Most of the work is done while sitting, though occasional standing,
walking, or repetitive motion may occur. Workflows may vary, and certain times of the year may be more
stressful with higher workloads. Work must be completed within specified timeframes and locations.
TRAVEL:
Travel is required for this position. Night and weekend hours may be necessary.
