The Head Wrestling Coach will be responsible for oversight of the Wrestling program at Cleary University. The position oversees recruitment and budget, and monitors student-athletes for the Wrestling program. Responsible for submitting the preliminary budget, and coordinating fundraising, scheduling, travel and equipment needs for the Wrestling program. Follows all rules and guidelines in accordance with Cleary University, NAIA and WHAC.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Commitment to the student-athlete, passion for the game, and the ability to coach and motivate players and staff. Establish rules for the team, and oversee the supervision, instruction, and development of student athletes and the team; make strategic decisions in contest situations; oversee the strength and conditioning of the student athletes; coordinate player evaluation and selection in conjunction with the assistant coach(es).
Recruit, onboard, supervise, develop, and evaluate the coaching staff to ensure their professional growth and development; assist with goal setting, prioritization, personnel matters, professional development, appraisals, operational functions and the delegation of responsibilities.
Manage and administer program resources including budget and supplies in respect to recruitment, team travel, hospitality, and equipment acquisition.
Develop and implement an annual recruiting plan and associate strategy and maintain a database of prospective student-athletes in coordination with the office of enrollment management.
Monitor the eligibility status of team members in cooperation with Athletics Compliance Coordinator and the academic officials of the University to ensure compliance with university, department, NAIA, and conference policies and regulations.
Create and maintain a positive environment that enhances student learning and success.
Represent Cleary University professionally in all interactions.
Other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor’s Degree preferred.
A minimum of 3-5 years of collegiate coaching experience with evidence of increasing levels of responsibilities.
Established record of accomplishment in effective coaching, promoting student athlete development, budgetary management, and supervision of professional staff.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work evenings/weekends as needed.
