Directs, provides leadership, and oversees all coaching duties for the Wrestling Program. Directs and coordinates all aspects of recruitment and training for athletic competition and oversees the planning of the program activities.
Responsible for the overall success, performance, and conduct of NMHU’s
NCAA
Division II Wrestling Program in the areas of academics, athletics, and student athlete conduct;
Supervise, plan, and coordinate the activities of the Wrestling Program;
Manage supplies and equipment allocated to the Wrestling program;
Advise and counsel student athletes regarding academic programs to ensure adequate progress towards a degree;
Oversee student athlete conduct and discipline;
Work closely with the Sports Information Director in regards to news releases and related media guides;
Hire, manage, and evaluate the assistant coaching staff;
Recruit student athletes in accordance with
NCAA
,
RMAC
, and
NMHU
rules and regulations;
Promote and represent the Wrestling program, the Athletics Department, and New Mexico Highlands University through marketing and public relations activities;
Develop, coordinate, and execute fundraising activities;
Manage all aspects of the financial operation of the Wrestling Program;
Perform other job-related duties as assigned;
Maintain regular attendance.
Education: Bachelor’s degree in any field.
Experience: Five (5) years wrestling coaching experience.
Demonstrated successful collegiate coaching experience.
Complete annual
NCAA
Coaches Curriculum within first 14 days of employment;
Must possess and maintain a valid NM driver’s license. Selection of an out of state candidate will require possession of a valid New Mexico Driver’s license within sixty (60) days of employment.
Must be willing to work evenings, weekends and odd hours.
Knowledge of applicable team or individual sports and playing rules;
Ability to exhibit strong leadership and management skills;
Knowledge and skill in budget preparation and fiscal management;
Knowledge and willingness to learn, then exhibit strong adherence to
NCAA

NMHU
rules, regulations and policies;
Knowledge of
NCAA
student athlete academic eligibility requirements;
Demonstrated competitive coaching skills in area of sporting specialty;
Strong interpersonal and communications skills;

recruiting rules;
Knowledge of travel/lodging planning and scheduling;
Ability to foster a cooperative work environment;
Organizing and coordinating skills;
Knowledge of athletic recruitment methods and techniques;
