SUMMARY/SCOPE:
Hardin-Simmons, a NCAA Division III member of the ASC Conference, is accepting applications for the position of graduate student worker, Softball.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Primary responsibilities include:
To guide and lead student-athletes to success on the field, in the classroom, and in their spiritual walk with Christ.
To develop a successful college softball program through the development of position players, game day management and operations, and organizing and running camps.
Additional Responsibilities:
Assist the head coach and assistant coach in managing all aspects of a highly competitive NCAA Division III softball program. The top priority must be the overall collegiate experience of the student-athlete and creating a positive culture that is centered around Christ.
Perform duties to maintain the softball facility (rake bullpens, weeds, edging, dirt)
Supervise student helpers and set up practice daily
Oversee the student-athlete academic progress through weekly study hall
Equipment duties such as organization, laundry, etc.
Help the head coach coordinate practices and develop a position group
Coaching first base on game days and pitching to players at practice and pre-game
Encourage young players to grow in their faith while demonstrating positive Christian ideals
Other possible duties: (oversee tarping, break down film, aid in local recruiting events, driving a van for closer competition sites)
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:
Bachelor’s degree and coaching/playing experience on a competitive level, acceptance into an HSU graduate program, a valid driver’s license and personal auto insurance, excellent communication and organization skills, willingness to work hard and take initiative.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
The ability to preform duties at the field such as hitting, pitching, throwing, and field maintenance.

Candidate must profess a Christian Faith, maintain membership in a local congregation, and respect the values and distinctives central to the historically Baptist values of HSU.
