The Director of Compliance reports to the Assistant Athletic Director for Compliance and is a member of the Athletics Compliance Office. This position is responsible for educating, monitoring and enforcing compliance of the bylaws of the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA), all athletic conference affiliations and the institution.This responsibility includes but is not limited to: assisting in the creation and management of initiatives that promote institutional and departmental culture of integrity and compliance as it relates to intercollegiate athletics, analyzing and addressing any changes in NCAA bylaws and rules, working with and educating Compliance interns, and other athletic compliance responsibilities as required.
The Director of Compliance will work with different areas of the athletic department including coaches, student-athletes, senior administration, and other staff.The Director of Compliance will act as a liaison with entities outside of the Compliance Department, including but not limited to, financial aid, housing, and the international office.The Director of Compliance should have effective oral and written communication skills to build interpersonal relations with persons of various backgrounds and organizational levels within and outside of the institution.The Director of Compliance should be well versed in creating presentations and working with Excel spreadsheets.The Director of Compliance should have an understanding of NCAA financial aid legislation (Bylaw 15), along with knowledge of working with student-athletes and their budgets.The Director of Compliance should have effective use of Compliance tools (LSDBi, CAi, ARMS, Eligibility Center).
