The University of Southern Maine Department of Athletics is searching for an Interim Assistant Coach for our Men and Women’s Cross Country and Track & Field program. This is a fixed-length, academic-year appointment starting as soon as possible through mid-June 2025. The Interim Assistant Coach will assist the Head Coach of Men and Women’s Cross Country and Track & Field with all aspects of the overall program operation for six sports and 90 - 100 or more student-athletes. This includes assisting with the overall organization, administration, implementation and development of the men’s and women’s cross country, indoor and outdoor track programs. The Assistant Coach will perform all duties necessary to assist in developing competitive, representative, and successful Division III programs, providing additional leadership and guidance and assist in creating an environment where student-athletes are challenged, supported, and can experience success while growing as individuals. In addition, the Assistant Coach will support the head coach with all coaching, recruiting of a diverse group of student-athletes, retention efforts, academic support, fundraising, events and day-to-day management of the men’s and women’s cross country and track & field athletic programs.

Schedule & Location: This is a fixed-length position that will serve until mid-June 2025. This position will be primarily located on the USM Gorham campus and requires travel.
