ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

I.          HEAD COACH

Plan and lead practice sessions, workouts, and strength and conditioning program Be responsible for skill analysis and development for student athletes  Recruit prospective student-athletes (will require time outside of season) Be in charge of all contests Work with athletic director to develop contest and practice schedules Maintain positive working relationships with Athletics Department staff, Enrollment and Advancement Division staff, and other University constituents. Scout opponents (as needed) Depending on team size and travel distance, drive for out-of-town trips if needed Accept constructive criticism and evidence professional growth Adhere to the Code of Ethics for coaches (Calvin, MIAA, NCAA) Contribute to the maintenance of good working relationships with assistant coaches and student-athletes through a positive and constructive approach to all tasks, respect for the competencies of others, and appropriate resolution behavior. Contribute to the moral and spiritual growth of the student-athlete in keeping with the mission of Calvin University

II.         PROFESSIONALISM IN SECONDARY ROLE

Assume and successfully perform a secondary role in the Athletics Department.  The role will be selected based on qualifications and department needs.  The role will constitute approximately one third of person’s overall work.  The role is not limited to but may include the following: 

• Managing equipment and/or facilities for the Athletics Department
• Supervising athletic events
• Coordinating with other University divisions
• Working with video/technology needs of department
• Administrating intramural or other department program
• Other
