The University Athletic Association at the University of Florida is searching for a candidate to fill a time limited internship intended to provide a practical, hands-on experience in the area of Learning Services Support for student-athletes while pursuing a graduate degree at UF. This position will train in preparation for a full-time learning specialist position at the collegiate level. Works with student-athletes with learning disabilities and ADD/ADHD; orients new student-athletes to the Disability Resource Center’s programs; assists in screening evaluations and referrals for assessment of learning disabilities; offers learning strategies; and refers students to appropriate campus resources. Provides professional level support and programs to student-athletes in accordance with the regulation of UF, the SEC, the NCAA, Americans with Disabilities Act and Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act.

Bachelor’s degree in a related field of expertise such as but not limited to Education, Sport Management, Psychology or Counseling with a desire to become a full-time Learning Specialist
Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality as well as maintain a standard of integrity and professionalism
Ability to engage effectively with others of diverse cultures or backgrounds
Ability to work a non-standard work week which may include evenings, weekends, and holidays
Experience working in an intercollegiate athletic academic office or participated in college athletics as a student-athlete
Experience working on virtual platforms and proficient in basic technology skills

Additional on the job training will be provided to candidates who meet the minimum qualifications for this position. Please note this is a non-coaching position.
